  • Good morning all. Last week i sent the 1st template letter to HSBC detailing to them the fact that i belive that i have been mis sold the PPI on the policy because i was told that i had to have it to get the loan and a few other points including that it was a single premium policy. I've recieved the usual letter after 5 days to say that they will investigate. 5 years ago, i took out a loan for £25,000. The total amount payable is about £44700!!!!!

So, i'm patiently waiting to see what their position is, but i'm far from worried as i will fight them all the way and them some if they come back with anything less than what i've paid, plus the 8% interest.

The point i wish to make is as follows-

I've read alot of posts about people that are successful in claiming back their money, but what's important to remember is that it is 'YOUR' money. You're not claiming anything back that doesn't belong to you.

Another point is that i've noticed some banks are claiming in their rejection letters that they had sent out the insurance documents to their customers in the post. This implies that these customers applied for their loans online and the paperwork was sent out to them, so the banks may be less willing to pay out if you applied for the loan online because they are probably thinking that the onus is on the customer.

I applied for my loan via telephone banking and then had to go to a branch to sign the paperwork, so wouldn't have needed anything sent in the post, therefore i think that most of the failures have been because customers have applied for their loans over the internet.

Anyway, watch this space, i'll keep you all updated. I have no idea what i have coming to me, but i know that the figure should be somewhere over £8000!!!!!!

hi there, claims from internet applications have been upheld by fos, the onus is not on the customer, banks are using this as a get out, you have the same rights as anyone no matter how you applied for your loan, i did a loan on the internet, and on the paper work the ppi box wasnt ticked but i was charged for it, this is what fos are looking at it is all bad banking practice and these banks should not be allowed to get away with this, everybody keep at em!! onwards and upwards

I agree, but the point is that banks may be turning down these internet applications in the first instance, only for the FOS to overturn their rejections later, which just means that we all need to be more determined and not downhearted if the first attempts fail.

The banks seem to be full of tricks!!!!!!
