Sharon,
Who ever arranged your PPI for you, so if you went through a broker, it would be them, if direct to a company then you contact them, read martin's article in full and decide whats best suited to your case then send off the template letters with your individual changes. Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -
lemonhead, go to martins article on reclaiming PPI it has the template letters there, you shouldn't need to change much from it, as it pretty much covers all the bases, read the timelines for 2nd letter etcThanks to all the competition posters.0

i have looked at the letter, but when i look at the loan paper work, i dont think i stand a chance, it sais total cash amount = £50000, total ppi =£12850. Then when i asked for a settlement fig a year later it had the 2 added together, i asked why at the time as i had not used PPI and will not be using it for the full term, they said the insurance will still be valid and i can still use it even though i paid the loan off, i have spoken to others on here and they said no loan = no insurance as there is no loan to insure. Thats why i wanted to speak to someone who also had a secured loan and paid it early, i am such a dunce even when a template letter has been done, i can never seem to get the letter as i want it, sorry, can i still get your help. Thanks smitchy and soontobesensible0

lemonhead,
unfortunately I dont' have experience of a secured loan, but I would agree with what you've been told, no loan no insurance, as there is no loan payment to make.
If this has been paid off you should have received a refund as you've basically been sold a single premium policy, however if you think back to when it was arranged, were you forced to take the PPI or did you even know it was there, that is where the mis-selling or if you haven't been told all the facts truthfully, ie that you could still use the insurance even though the loan has been paid, then I think this comes under misrepresentation act 1967(I think) if you take the time and read through the threads on here, you will see lots of people who have been in a similar situation.
If you think I may be of more help feel free to private message me.Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -

I took finance out with GE money via Anglian windows (this was the finacial company they used) when I got my double glazing but the insurance is through Pinnacle, although it was Anglian who sorted the finance for the windows and insurance out for me. I have written to GE money already but they have told me to take it up with Anglian although I feel that because the money was paid to GE money then surely it would be them I would be writing to to claim back my PPI? Are they just trying to fob me off?0 -
was a bit worried when I first read this thread as there were not many success stories regarding the Alliance and Leicester. I wrote to them requesting £1,400, they sent me a letter of acknowledgement after 2 weeks....time went on, another letter arrived after 6 weeks apologising for delay so I thought "uh oh here's where I have to step it up a notch" I prepared a letter to send to them in the next 2 weeks(after the 8 week window Martin advised on.
Bang on the day the 8 weeks were up, (glad I waited until my postie had been before I went to post it) they sent me an offer of £1,250.....as it was 2 weeks before xmas I accepted and we had a really great xmas. I know it was a little short but if I hadn't heard about the possibility of reclaiming I would not have had any of it so I am more than happy
Thank you ever so much Martin, keep up the good work and congrats on the engagement0 -
i just spoke to Nemo who i got my loan from and they said that i paid of the loan as a lump sum which included the PPI and that the PPI is still valid even if i dont have a loan with them, they said if i become ill then i just call norwich union and give them my old nemo ref, all sounds weird, anyway, i do have a medical prob and when i am off work its due to this (have had it for a few years, even before nemo loan) now i reckon that if i did try and claim they would not pay it as its an on going condition i have and i dont think i would even get it as i am under the disability act which means if im off work for my condition i still get paid, no matter how many days i have off, so surely no insurance company will pay out when im getting paid anyway? im all confused
EDIT: Just called Norwich union and any pre exsisting conditions are not insured and cant be claimed on. Now i remember when i took out the nemo loan, i told them that there was no point me having the PPI cause of my ilness and that i might not get any money if i am ill, they said it would cover everything even my ilness, thats why i must have changed my mind. I never received any books to explain PPI, its just written on my signed aggreement that it covers sickness etc. I think i have a strong case now, what you all think?0 -

Hi,
I claimed on the PPI I had taken out through HSBC bank for medical reasons, and they sent out a form to be filled in by my doctor. I sent this in after my GP had completed it and waited for the acceptance of my claim.
I received a letter from HSBC stating that due to the policy not covering previous medical history and so rejected my claim.
I was not happy with this, and the letter of rejection said that if I was not happy with the decision I could contact the Financial Ombudsman to carry on my complaint.
I called the ombudsman, and they sent another complaint to HSBC on my behalf, to which I had a letter from the manager of customer services shortly afterwards offering me the money back I had paid for the PPI, and to go into my local bank to re-arrange my loan without the PPI.
They had to offer the new loan at the same interest rate my original loan was at, and for the same period my original loan remained for.
Eventually, I received full payment of the PPI I had, with a bit more "compensation" for the problems I had.
Hope this help.0 -

Had 5 year loan for around £4000 with Lloyds plus PPI. Followed Martins template letter as felt it was missold to me for various resons. Lloyds made me an offer inless than 2 weeks. I declined and held out for full refund plus interest, £1550! Lloyds were very swift in dealing with this.
Also reclaimed my intertest charges last year totalling £500 following Martins sound advice.
