hi
big thanks to this site it is wonderful. I have today received a cheque for £291.30 from the catalogue kaleidoscope and a really apologetic letter!
i have some other catalogues credit cards and store cards to reply yet but I only sent the letter out on the 2nd January and the money arrived today, the 11th!!
Thanks Martin you are the best!!0 -
I have received replies from all credit card and store card companies stating that they have not mis sold ppi. Theses were all 3rd letters from them and now advising that I go the the financial ombudsman and I have 6 years in which to do so! Now in my job as a childminder I have lost 2 children due to a Mum going on maternity leave and another child going to school so my income is dropping by a large amount. I will still have some children to mind so technically am not unemployed just earning a lower incom shall I try and claim on my ppi and see what they have to say because if they say they won't pay out then surely the policies have been mis sold? Wish me luck on this I must succeed in something surely?0

By using your template letter i made a claim against HSBC for being missold my payment protection on my personal loan and after a couple of letters from them saying that they were still looking into my complaint, i received a letter this morning saying they are gonna refund me just over £1300
 THANKS0 -
hi in the process of claiming from firstplus just wondered what reason other successes have given i have give 3
told we had to have the ppi to qualify for the amount required
husband has pre-existing medical conditions was never asked
was told if we didnt claim within the 5 years we would get all the ppi back
not the case I also made a point of telling them my employer pays 6months full and 6months half pay due to sickness no chance of unemployment unless im struck off so why would i request ppi because they told me it was a requirement?
would appreciate any feedback ppi was just under 8,000 took out jan 06 have told them in the letter i want it cancelling forth with never knew such things went on they must make a fortune out of people well i wont let it drop whish i could pay the lot off thanks for such an informative site will keep you informed0 -
I know what you mean Daynurse. I have sent of my sample letter today (By recorded post of course) to HSBC. I took out a loan in jan 04 for 15k, was told that I needed PPI to be accepted. told them I worked for the NHS so I had job security and excellent sickness benifits but this was ignored. 4k was added to my loan for the PPI!! Funnily enough though, last year I went to see them about another loan (which I decided not to take in the end) and the adviser in store went through the questions and told me I didnt fit the criteria so I didnt need PPI!!! my circumstances are exactly the same. hopefully they will still have that on file so if they dont respond favourably to my first letter i will include that little snapshot in my second.
thank you to everyone who has posted on here. I cant tell you how much seeing everyones positive and negative experiences has spurred me on to try and get my PPI back. fingers crossed X0 -

Hi sharon
lm currently trying to re claim with the halifax and my ppi complaints have to go to the main office in leeds. even though the ppi has an irish address , also where there are so many complaints about ppi mis-selling. the halifax has now informed me that the letter i sent was being dealt with by a specialist team in chester not halifax .. confusing? well we are talking the halifax here not the brightest button in the box.. and slowly dissapearing up their own bottom me thinks !!
l suggest you ring your banks customer services dept and im sure they,ll be able to give you the correct address ... you dont want your complaint passed around loads of departments. they will probally stall for time anyway to deal with your complaint so at least you will know your letter is where it should be . and dont forget to send it recorded delivery , then you can go on the post office web site and check not only if it arrived but who signed for it details will be on the recipt the post office give you when you sent it
good luck ....:p:EasterBun GRAB EVERY OPPERTUNITY YOU GET ..YOU DONT KNOW HOW LONG YOUR HERE FOR0 -
i just spoke to Nemo who i got my loan from and they said that i paid of the loan as a lump sum which included the PPI and that the PPI is still valid even if i dont have a loan with them, they said if i become ill then i just call norwich union and give them my old nemo ref, all sounds weird, anyway, i do have a medical prob and when i am off work its due to this (have had it for a few years, even before nemo loan) now i reckon that if i did try and claim they would not pay it as its an on going condition i have and i dont think i would even get it as i am under the disability act which means if im off work for my condition i still get paid, no matter how many days i have off, so surely no insurance company will pay out when im getting paid anyway? im all confused
EDIT: Just called Norwich union and any pre exsisting conditions are not insured and cant be claimed on. Now i remember when i took out the nemo loan, i told them that there was no point me having the PPI cause of my ilness and that i might not get any money if i am ill, they said it would cover everything even my ilness, thats why i must have changed my mind. I never received any books to explain PPI, its just written on my signed aggreement that it covers sickness etc. I think i have a strong case now, what you all think?
you go for it!! my motto in life now is if you dont ask you dont get ...all its going to cost you is a recorded del charge approx £1.09 at your post office the worst that can happen is you get zilch... at best .. a BIG FAT CHEQUE !!
KEEP US POSTED !!:p:EasterBun GRAB EVERY OPPERTUNITY YOU GET ..YOU DONT KNOW HOW LONG YOUR HERE FOR0 -
I sent off my letter as believe that I have been talked into to not cancelling the PPI when queried, but both HSBC and MBNA have refused to give my money back!!
I feel disappointed and also wondering if I should be taking this further?
Any idea's
Thanks
Sara
DONT GIVE UP NOW!! thats a standard fob off ... you slam in the 2nd letter on the template section .., be a pain in the butt to them ... do not give up thats what they hope you do ...they save thousands of £ that way

Something to remember about signature's from recorded deliveries, these are usually signed for by a security guard or by a messenger(if you're lucky), I work in a government department and we receive almost a dozen recorded deliveries a day but it isn't even a member of staff that works for us that signs it, it's the security guard for the building.
Just a helpful hint, however, it is once signed classed as delivered. Thanks to all the competition posters.0
