I paid my loan off 9 months ago, and got a rebate on my PPI as it was paid off early, after reading the forums I decided to have a go at claiming the full amount I had paid to Lloyds TSB. After receiving a letter saying I was not entitled to any refund, I replied saying it was missold and would take it further, after waiting about a month I got the full amount back £2045 and a week later recieved interest of £750, this was all done using the templates provided. Thank you, Martin.:T0

Just been told by RBS that I ticked the appropriate box on the online form and therefore tough luck since it is impossible to advise properly on online applications and would have been sent the appropriate details after and offered a cooling off period.
Is this worth progressing any further or is that the end of it?
I had argued that it was inappropriate since I had very good sick & redundancy package through work blah blah blah....
Has anyone ever managed to get PPI back from credit cards or is it flogging a dead horse?0 -
Took out a loan with Liverpool Victoria in Feb 2003 £10,000 over 6 years. Applied on internet. When paperwork came it included the PPI so I thought it was compulsory. On looking at the details it could be cancelled within 30 days of start date. Have often wanted to cancel it but thought there was no get out. Can I now cancel it? and is there any chance of getting any more refunded? It appears to have been a single premium payment.0

Hi everyone. Just wanted to let you know that out of my 10 credittors, one credit card company has sent me a cheque today for £747.38, and another has offered me the full £238 and am just awaiting their cheque. I'm still awaiting replies from my loans and car finance which i'm hoping will be go the same way. I also successfully reclaimed £3700 of bank charges last year and it just shows that if you stick to the letters and your guns and get help when needed from people on this site, it really does work.Bank charge Victories 07:MBNA:£205.77.Natwest Credit Card:£250.A&L Bank:£549.68.First Direct:£1183.50.Natwest:£112.33+£200 compo.Marbles CC:£298.Providian CC:£181.Capitol One CC:£388.46.PPI requests:A&L credit card/First Direct loan: At Court stage.Marbles CC:£213.02 refunded.GE Money:£562.34 refunded.First Direct credit card:£747.83 refunded.0

Wife & I just received what seems like a bog standard reply from Capital One regarding our claims for PPI.
FYI, we sent out MSE template letter to them in late Dec07 that went something like this:
My credit card account above is being charged for Payment Protection Insurance for a number of years that I believe was mis-sold for the following reasons:
1 - This is due to the fact that you have been fined by the FSA for failing to treat your customers fairly when selling Payment Protection Insurance and I do not believe that my policy was sold in my best interests.
2- This is due to the fact that I was not given the correct information when the policy was sold to me, as- your salesperson was very pushy in selling me the policy so that I felt I could not say no.
- your salesperson did not tell me that the policy was optional
- i am concerned the sales assistant that sold me the policy has no financial background and the policy was not sold in my best interests.
1- our comments on FSA penalty on Cap One was correct (re: system error that made many a/c holders suffer PPI without T&C being sent out by Cap One)
2- Cap One had contacted ALL those were affected by this and assured that my wife & I are not affected, hence no contact was made to us. (Frankly, we cant recall any T&C plus insurance CERTIFICATE for this PPI - it was years ago!)
3- Cap One required all telecons to be clear & in accordance to non-misleading scripts. Cap One claimed that we gave our consent to PPI and to listen to Cap One's limited version of T&C over the phone. (Frankly, we can hardly recall this incident as it was ages ago!!)
Any help & guidance is much appreciated folks.
God bless.:o

I sent a customised copy of Martin's letter at the end of October to First Plus regarding the PPI element of the secured loan I took out in 2005. The PPI element of the loan was a whopping £24k+. On 27th Dec I received a letter from FP confirming that they were upholding my claim for mis-selling. They were to refund the £24k with interest to my loan account; £28.5k AND repay to me all PPI premiums for 2 years, an additional £5k. A grand total of £33.5k. Working this out the PPI would have cost £50k over 20 years but they would have paid back the premiums after 5 years ( the duration of the PPI). This assumes that I hadn't claimed. The max claim amount would have been limited to £25k so FP would have been £25k in pocket whether or not I had claimed against the PPI. I think that this is unfair in itself - despite the mis-selling. This was based on them actually telling me over the phone that I would not be able to afford the loan unless I took out the PPI. How does that work then! Expecting my £5k cheque on Monday.
Thanks Martin.

A big thank-you to Martin and his team, I have successfully reclaimed ppi and ltsb even refunded ppi from past loans as a gesture of goodwill as I couldn't of claimed on them anyway. Would never of considered reclaiming without your help. You are a hero.0
