    Hi there

On request GE should send you a copy of the policy details, the insurer/underwriter details are enclosed on them.
Sorry if you've already done this.

Wishing you luck on your reclaiming and keep at them.;)

    Hi all,

Just thought I'd fill you in on an offer I have received,

Loan was taken in 2004 and repaid in 2010.

1st claim was rejected and I didn't follow through to Ombudsman as I had operational commitments being in the MOD.

Thought I'd have another go at it following the court case.

Rang AA Finance PPI number and they took my details, 1st letter said they are looking into my case.

    2nd letter offering £5388. Premium + 8%

All following 1 phone call. It has taken 6 weeks.

    Well chuffed.

    Fantastic! Congratulations!

  • My first post. And to start would like to thank all the knowledgeable people on here for their posts and advice.

So to try to stick to the format of reporting...

Claim...Mis-sold PPI on MBNA (Alliance & Liesceter branded) Credit Card
    Provider...Hmmm...MBNA or A&L. (I complained to MBNA)
How much did I get back....£7,310.96
Did I go to the FOS...Yes eventually. But they didn't have to do anything.

I'll add that I was claiming for the following reasons.....I have a medical history of nervous anxiety explicitly excluded in the small print which was not pointed out. I was not told this payment would be added to my credit card just like a normal purchase and accrued interest. I could get the Insurance elsewhere.

Well I first followed all the guides on here. Sent off my SAR and the FOS consumer questionaire in July of last year. I received all my details from the SAR and a couple of letters saying the investigation was taking longer than expected. I finally recieved a rejection letter in September. A very short letter saying that 'The details you have provided do not match those held at MBNA' and 'If you belive premiums have been taken from your account please supply fresh information'. Now having all the information they had sent me the premiums were obvious on the account listing. I was a bit baffled. I began to doubt what I remembered from nigh on 9 years ago. So I backed off. But on going through all the paperwork I was convinced I was right.

Well I contacted the FOS by phone and just lodged the complaint. I didn't realise they would send a letter to MBNA saying the complaint was lodged with them. Within 1 week I received another letter from MBNA saying they were investigating. Almost as if the first complaint hadn't been made. A week after that I recieved another one saying the complaint had been upheld and I was to recieve £2,606.21 in payments £4,472.67 in interest and statutory 8% of £232. Job done. I must admit that MBNA shot themselves in the foot putting my interest rate up to 35% way back. More dosh for me:-)

Don't take the first rejection. PURSUE THEM. If you truly belive you have been missold.

Now I have sent nothing to the FOS other than lodge a complaint by phone. I will however send all the details of this complaint to them as I believe MBNA were being deliberatly obstructive in the handling first time round. They need a slap on the wrist and stop the automatic first rejection letter.

My luck to all of you making complaints. Get back what was improperly taken from you.

  • Hi all, just registered to say that after 7 1/2 weeks Black Horse finally responded to my letter (copied from this site:T)
They upheld my claim and looked into a previous a/c I had with them and are paying that back as well. I didn't think I would get anything as I took the loan out in 2004 and had read about BH not paying out for that date.
Acceptance form has been posted and I am just waiting for the £9,920 to be put in my bank.
Now to try Abbey/Santander for an old CC I had:D

So many thanks to everybody who contributes to this site!

    Hi

Had my letter today upholding my complaint and agreeing to refund.

I am not 100% on figures if anyone has a better idea.

    Quick points

    Front loaded PPI

    £1158.30 payments refunded
    £527.33 8% stat interest refunded

    Total £1685.63

Excess balance when refinanced the loan in 2008 as would have been lower.

    £555.61

    TOTAL

    £2241.24

No mention of the Apr interest that I was paying at 11%????

Interest etc calculated until 26th March.

    So

Should the payments have been calculated to include the APR
    Ie payments XAPR X8%?

Also if teh payment has not been received by 26th can I send the court letter at that point with 14 days notice, I am not waiting months for my money!

Any help would be great

    Hi

    Well done on your success!
I assumed it would have been worked on using the 8% APR, but maybe one of the other folks used to working at calculations will be able to confirm on this and be here soon today.

    Good luck.
