The person at FOS was right, find out who the insurer was and make a complaint to them,if they come back and say no,the FOS can deal with this.

How do i find this out amersall? I have been trawling the internet since 6pm and cant find the underwriters for First National, i have also looked under GE Money, Santander & Abbey National as FN was owned by GE Money, who was owned by Abbey, then Santander.... I found one piece that mentioned lloyds, then axa....i really haven't a clue...:o Do you think they will disclose this info if he rings them? xx
  • Update On FirstPlus Failure

Re wrote to them stating further reasons why I feel we were mis sold. And that I feel they should look into it further.

Also E-mailed Bob Diamond at Barclays.
Got a reply from his department saying that they are going to investigate further and apologise for the way FirstPlus have dealt with me. Told to feel free to contact them (provided telephone number), but to expect a reply within 7 days. Fingers crossed we get the result we hope for.
Keep your fingers crossed for me guys!

You are doing the right thing. Keep at it. Write a letter to the top brass. Must be incredibly worrying for you both. Keep my fingers crossed for you.

Oh, don't you worry, being the determined sort, I'm like a dog with a bone once someones given me something to chew on at least!

I'll be back on the phone next week, as usual. Gotta be some light at the end of the tunnel at some point!

    Hiya :D

In my opinion and experience its never too late.

For example, one of mine was paid out over a year ago and I still questioned on the calcs even after receiving the payment/refund, and further on I did receive a further cheque.

    If you don't ask you don't get.:D;):j.

No harm done and its your money, your not being greedy.

    Hi Di,

Thank you for the advice. As you say, no harm in asking,so I'll be sending a letter over the week end.

Well done on your success this week, very much deserved!:T:T:T

Certainly inspires me to keep at 'em until we get our money back!:D
  • Another question!:o

I sent a letter to Nationwide asking them to re-consider after my complaint was turned down. I rang after a week to check the letter had been received and was told first that it hadn't but after giving the recorded delivery number was told it had been received but hadn't been scanned! Left it another 3 weeks and rang today for an update to be told no sign of the letter!!!

So, as I cant speak to the person who dealt with the complaint, have been told I would be sent the recording of the original phone call only to be told 2 weeks later that it couldn't be found and have now been told that my letter has gone missing, I think it's time to follow up with an e-mail.
The PPI complaints team don't have an e-mail address apparently so anyone know who best to contact?

    Thank you!:A

    Hi
    sorry to hear that!

I would email the CEO of the bank, and if you have a copy and the facilities to scan the letter you sent to your computer, or if you saved it on your computer, email the CEO with it and send a further one to the complaints team as well, make them aware you have already emailed the CEO, and you hope this time they do not mislay your letter the 2nd time round.

:) hubby had a credit charge card (First National Tricity Finance-GE Money) going back to 1998...balance of £1700..£15.00 PPI going on every month til we paid it of in 2008!!!! We only realized when shredding old things 2 months ago . Wrote to Santander..their response was that because it was so long ago they did not know how the PPI was sold therfore they can not do anything - :mad:Final Response:mad: ! I wrote & told them how it was taken, didnt know he had it, ect (which terribly was the truth i am ashamed to say)..but still they will not budge, so while on to the FOS regarding something else, i asked him how to go forth with this :o...he replied by saying my OH could ring Santander & find out who the underwriter is, and take the complaint to them...so here we are..:o

Any one have any advice with regards to these kind of things:):)....xx

    Hi there

The FOS will suggest this avenue of the underwriter of the business because these would have been regulated, and they will possibly have part liabilities of the insurance sold to you.

Santander could still check on who the insurer/underwriter was, I would send them a copy of the details you do have in order to make it easier for them to track this down, good luck.:)
