PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi there
I'm really sorry to jump on someone else's thread, am new to the forum & can't see how to create a new one.
I am in process of submitting a claim for mis-sold mortgage PPI. Have rung the insurance company to ask for copies of my agreement etc. and they told me that I have to send my claim to the Financial Services Authority and not them, as the IFA was not a representative of theirs, and so its nothing to do with them. Is this correct? Or do I proceed with sending it to the insurance company?
Can anyone help me?
Ann
Hi and welcome Ann
And this thread is for all so no worries.
However, dunstonh will have the answers for this one in regards of Mortgage PPI, and below to help you out, I have posted a new thread for you in order for Dunstonh or maybe MagpieCottage to help, this will not be missed then. (It's still within these PPI reclaiming threads but as stated it will not get missed then by the ones who know more of Mortgage PPI).
Title it "Mortgage PPI Help"
Then put in you question.;) Hope this helps and the best of luck.

After following the easy steps and using the template letters i sent off the form to capital one with reference to a credit card i had had for 10 years or so, thing is i didnt even no i was paying PPI as there was no trace of it on the online statements, within 3 week letter back saying going to be refunded £1358.00!! Happy Days, have also sent letters to M B N A, Had 2 cards with big balances since 1998, have cleared one 2 years ago and have sinced learned that i have being paying PPI on that card since 1998, with a average balance of £3500.00, anyone who is a bit unsure about claiming please please please dont be, follow the step like i did and you could be quids in, after all its your money not theirs, thanks to all at money saving expert for the tools to do the job:beer: 9/8/2011

Just got my revised offer through from HSBC.
They originally offered £1,612 which I rejected as they had not applied contractual interest.
After recalculating they have made a revised offer of £4,177 which is a very nice improvement.
So the message is keep pushing for the contractual interest because it does make a significant difference and you are entitled to it.
That's a big difference, well done to you!:T & Congratulations, great work!:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi guys,
I have been reading the boards and stories for the last few weeks while considering my own options regarding PPI. Like many I didn't think the PPI issue affected me - but I got a letter from Halifax regarding their concerns over not explaining "exclusions and limitations" on their credit card repayment cover. Nice to see they care! I was quite shocked as I am covered through my current employment for sickness and long term absence and I did not require this. As of 4/8/11 my PPI complaint has started. BTW the repayment cover was added on during an activation call as I had opted out on the signing of T&Cs.
I also have an unsecured loan with Halifax that I had declined to take PPI. I thought it would be wise to check all was well with it and after digging out the documents I found PPI on the loan. In my mind this is serious mis-selling. I had a conversation with a lady in sales back in September 2008 (when the loan was taken out) and I specificaly declined taking that out - even though a hard sell was attempted. I left that conversation with the clear knowledge I had opted out of PPI. I signed the T&Cs when a courier brought them round the next day.
Yesterday (8/8/11) I started the process of a complaint regarding the PPI on the loan.

good morning everyone, I have been a daily reader of this page, but not wrote anything yet as had nothing to report. Until today :-)
took out a loan with Llloyds Tsb in 2007, was told I had to take ppi or I could not take out the loan.
wrote my first and only letter 07/04/11, recieved a letter of comfirmation on the 14/04/11 then recieved 2nd letter 14/05/11 which was a statement outlining the loan and ppi repayments to date. 3rd letter 06/06/11 to advise it was still being looked at. 4th letter recieved today to make me a offer :-) ..... 4 months from start to finish.
Just wanted to share my story with you and thank you all. Although I didn't write on the board your advise and stories helped me along the way.
Good luck to everyone0 -
