    Hiya

Just for you to be aware, this can be a long drawn out process, but you will get there.

I am in the same position and mine is also being dealt with via the underwriter, so at first I write to the lender and not the broker and asked them to provide me with the PPI policy booklet details by post, they did so free of charge within a week or so.
These details are not always enclosed within your loan package copies (the info they send after you take out the loan).

So I then pursued the insurer (mine Hamilton) and they did not take any liability, but at least you can have this investigated by the FOS as they would have been regulated as being a insurer/underwriter, they will have liabilities there somewhere.
    Good luck.;)

Hi, We also had a loan with paragon and our broker was loans.co.uk, first wrote to them in feb. finally claim upheld just waiting on figures which they say should receive early next week.

    Hi there,

Thought I would shed some light as I recently had 2 PPI complaints upheld by Black Horse. Basically the same story as your OH, I took out a loan then a couple of years later took out another loan and paid off the first. So they refunded me all the redress and interest for the first loan as that was all paid off. But as I had defaulted on the second loan and it still had a balance outstanding at the time of redress, what they done was deduct the PPI premiums and associated interest off the balance of the loan. They then said that they would pay me the 8% simple interest as this is a compensation payment. My cheque should be here any day now!
Therefore it seems that is what they are doing with your OH too, just refunding the 8% interest and deducting the rest off the amount he owed on the loan.
    Hope this makes sense! :)

Thanks sweetie i kind of understand things a bit better now so pleased i hadnt brought total confusion to this place, May i ask, if not too nosey, from when you sent the acceptance form off, how long has it been since? And also do you know why they sent it two times as the same ref numbers were at bottom of both sheets of paper

    thanks xx

They said in my letter that it could take up to 8 weeks after them receiving my acceptance form for me to receive my cheques. I received a cheque for the first loan after 5 weeks and the cheque for the second loan I am still waiting for. It's about 8 weeks now but apparently they sent the cheque 2 weeks ago! I never received it so they have cancelled that one and re-issued another which should arrive in the post this week, i hope!
Actually thinking about it now they sent me two copies of the same letter. It's for when you sign the acceptance, so you send them a signed copy and you keep the other for your records.
    Hope this helps :)

Since my original letter to MBNA on 4th January 2011 complaining about PPI and receiving at least seven letters from MBNA asking for a further 21 days or 28 days , I have today received a cheque for £6709.00 in full and final settlement of my claim.

Oh that's interesting I haven't heard much about Paragon.

Can I ask when you took your loan out? Problem is, I took my out with Paragon directly and don't recall using a broker etc.

Well I called Paragon this morning to find out some more details on my loan.

It was front loaded PPI of £388.75 on an £8000 loan. Could someone work out what they would owe me if I'm successfull?

    Loan £8000
    Started 4/3/98 for 3 years
    Interest 19.968%
    Total PPI £388.75 front loaded.

Does the fact that it was front loaded help me in any way?

    Thanks guys
