Thank you offcumden. I tried to call the PPI team and could not understand their explanation. I then emailed the CEO and received a letter that a caseworker would be appointed to look into it! They received by acceptance on 2/8/11 and I am counting down 28 days. Will post the final figure when it's paid.

Got very excited 3 weeks ago when I received an 'upheld' letter from EGG regarding a credit card I held with them for approximately 10 years and cashed the cheque quickly!
    The offer was as follows:

    CRP premiums: £1765.77
Interest on premiums paid at card rate: £1718.06
    8% interest: £197.73

    Total refund £3681.56

I have been reading about contractual interest on here and am now worried that I've sold myself short. Have I? And if so, is there anything I can do now I've paid the cheque in?

    Thanks in advance...

I would assume the cosolidated interest would be the difference between the interest on each loan from the date they calculated the offer figures you have quoted and on your acceptance of the offer the additional interest which will accrue to the date of the payment to your account, might be worth contacting them to find out
Might be worth checking that the have only deducted 20% interest on the interest only as that would make a big difference

I think that is a safe assumption.

They will add 8% to the entire redress from the point of calculation, until the date they pay out.

As they don't know when that will be until they receive your acceptance, they cannot confirm how much it will be yet.

  • Well got a letter from the FOS saying they can go no further with my complaint at this stage as PaRAGON were not regulated by them at the time of the loan and they were unable to trace the underwriter however if I can provide the underwriters details, they can pursue a claim against them.

Well, I don't have the paperwork for this loan but just phoned Paragon who advised me that my policy was underwritten by Aviva and gave me the address and telephone number. Unsure why the FOS were unable to get this information?:(

Anyway, as far as I recall, I got the Loan from Paragon directly. I have a feeling this is not going to be successful.

    Anyone any experience with this?

    Thanks :)

I have now contacted Barclays CEO after seeing all the successes others have had from doing this. I have been with Barclays for 20 years and still bank with them, maybe this will get things moving!
