when you say you don't want anything, do you mean it?

If I said that I didn't want anything then that is what I would mean, although I can't imagine ever saying it.

Why do people play these silly games? Sulking because 'don't get me anything special' is taken at it's word makes no sense to me.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Does he drink whisky or wine? How about buying him a bottle of something unusual he hasn't tried before? My OH had tried Tallisker whisky a couple of times when we've eaten out and I spotted it in the airport shop on the way home from holiday where he'd turned 50, so I bought him a bottle. Turns out it would have been cheaper at home, ho hum, but he liked it. His birthday present on the day had been a T-shirt with 4 candles (as in Two Ronnies) on it. We can afford much bigger presents but small ones are also enjoyed.Make £2025 in 2025

When my fortieth came up a few years ago my wife nagged me for ages about what I wanted.
I told her it didnt want her to buy me anything. All I ever want is for her to give me her time. I said I wanted
1. my breakfast cooked for me
She laughed at me said that's far too much work and I got socks.
This year my birthday is on fathers day. Again I;ve asked for my breakfast cooked.
Ive no chance!0 -

I do hope you're not serious. Surely she can't ignore Fathers' Day and your birthday. That would be too cruel and it costs her nothing.
My DH gives me breakfast in bed every day so I know what a pleasure it is.0 -

If Mrs G wants anything, she asks or sometimes writes me a list in plain English. I think this relationship may last.
I also wasn't in the line when they were handing out mind reading superpowers, hence when I said I don't want anything for my birthday means I don't want or need anything, if she said it meant the exact opposite.
Present buying wasn't my forte in that relationship, I once bought a present for my mother in law, she opened her present whilst recovering in hospital from an above the knee amputation.
Mil thought it was absolutely hilarious that I bought her bed socks, whilst my mrs and the rest of the family scowled at me. :rotfl:
Current Mrs makes it so much easier as she has the communication skills about what she needs/wamts and there is no confusion and zero mind games or man traps :beer:0 -

I was assuming, from the way the post was written, that the children might need a little help in preparing breakfast.0 -
OHs 40th soon, he said he doesn't want anything, so I'm just wondering if any of you have said this and if you mean it?
It seems so strange to me not getting him something for his 40th. We usually do 'something' rather buy material things but either way he said he's ok.
It seems daft me buying him something just to make me feel better about it, so wondering if you do really mean it when you say it.
We're really quite spoilt in what we have done and where we have been so finding something new is proving tricky.
I've suggest a joint holiday, me paying for him to go away abroad for a coaching holiday (for his hobby), weekend away, New items for his hobby etc but he honestly doesn't need anything. Me, I had a list for my 40th :rotfl:
I guess I just feel bad not getting him anything, even though that is what he wants.
Would you all really not mind if it was your birthday and you didn't get anything?
Well, I always say "oh, don't bother, nothing I want", but I'd be furious if he didn't get me anything lol
But, presents are a problem, as we buy stuff we want, and it gets harder to try and find gifts.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.
