My wife recieved another letter from the Abbey complaints dept saying her complaint was now being delt with by one of their Senior Resolution Managers and will write to her when thier investigation is complete.
Here is the part she is unsure about..... the letter then states........
To help make sure we have all the facts about your complaint please complete and sign (these words were highlighted) the enclosed questionnaire. Its important to fill it in as it will help us in assessing your complaint. We can only only investigate your complaint based on the information befor us.

It then at some point in black dark print states that if she doesnt returned the completed and signed document within 14 days it may effect their ability to fully asses the complaint.

We decided to ring them up and ask why they needed the questionnaire as they have all the details on file and her situation hadnt changed. In no short terms she was told that if she didnt fill in the form and SIGN and return it, they can not continue with her complaint.
Some of the questions on the form relate to the policy taken....... she stated in her first letter that she hadnt realised she had taken a policy out, see previous posts. So surely if she didnt get asked about a policy how can she answer questions about it.
What we need to know from someone please, is do we legaly need to fill the questionnaire in and send it back. I say we dont as their words in their letter states it is to help them make sure they have all the information and facts.

We hope someone can shine some light on this so we can continue with this claim.
    Thanks

  • I took out a loan with Egg in Jan 2005. I swear I was told at the time that I would only get the loan if I purchased PPI. Otherwise I wouldn't have taken it (at £5847 over 72 months !!!) I intend to send off my reclaim letter but am concerned: Surely its their word against mine if I claim I was told I had to have it?

In Addition; I cancelled the PPI earlier this year when overhauling my finances and found after reading through the details I wouldn't be elligible for the unemployment part anyway. Looking at my loan agreement it seems to be the "single premium" type Martin talks about.

Any comments/advice would be much appriciated...

I had a loan with Natwest for 3 years which ended July 2006. When I request information i.e. start date and amount of the loan they were unable to provide this to me. The loan was also topped up half way through the loan so there were two different start dates with two different loan numbers.

NATWEST state that once the loan has been paid off they do not keep this information past 6 months.

How do I get the information now? What are my rights here?

    Thanks

    patrick
if you paid by direct debit check your statements from bank to see when the payments began n finished u may have to pay a small though but it could be worth it in the end

I listened with great interest to Martin on Radio 2 today.

I took out a loan with Natwest in April 2005. With that loan, I agreed (now regrettably) to take out insurance. At the time, I wasn't sure about my job so I thought it would be the best thing.

The insurance was added on as a lump sum to the loan amount. Interest was then charged on the total value of the loan and insurance. The insurance equats to £69.04 per month.

After listening to Martin today, I telephoned Natwest and cancelled the insurance. They had no difficulty in doing that and did not tell me that I had to take out another loan or that my interest rate would increase, i.e. no penalties. They confirmed that the cancellation would be put in writing (God knows when I'll get that with the postal strike!).

What I want to clarify is whether Natwest were correct in attaching the insurance as a lump sum to my original loan amount and then calculating the interest in the total sum? As I still have 2 & half years left to repay, am I entitled to reclaim anything?

Thankfully, I will now be saving £69 per month but I'm gutted that I've effectively wasted over £1800 since I took the loan out. Will I be able to get anything back?

Thanks for any help you can give.

  • I took out a loan from Egg over the internet with PPI. I automatically clicked on the "I Agree" for the terms and conditions. I did not of course read it all. I have, since hearing about how the PPI's have been mis-sold thought that I would look into my loan. Low and behold I am not (I think) covered. I work part time (16 hours) and do not pay NI. It would seem that because of this I may not be covered. If anyone knows if this is right would they let me know.

I took out a credit card with Nationwide when i opened a Flexaccount last August. What I now find totally amazing, was the fact that I told the woman that I was not earning at the moment, and wouldn't be until I returned to work in September 2009! She even went away and asked somebody else if I could even open the bank account due to this fact, so she knew full well I wasn't working. They agreed to the bank account with an overdraft which was fine, but they didn't tell me that I wasn't eligible for the insurance and pursuaded me that it would be okay if I fell ill! Totally untrue of course as I could not have claimed due to loss of income as I never had it at the time of taking it out!!! I feel so stupid at not thinking straight at the time, but havew taken Martin's advice and have printed off the letter. Will post though on Tuesday due to the strike!!!
  • Hi, Can anyone help me with this, I took out an Egg loan in 2004 of £7000 the loan protection was added to the loan, which was £2057. I had an accident at work in 2005 and tried to claim. I was told that as the X rays didn't show any damage I could not claim. I cancelled my PPI. My payments went down from £154 per month to £131. At no time was I informed that the PPI was optional. I tried to ask for a refund but was told that as my payments were reduced I could not have a refund. having read several posts on here it seems that I was mis-sold my policy and I could possibly be entitled to a refund.
