    Hi All,
l have'nt been on for a while awaiting replies. l was pee'd off because nationwide had said no to ppi claim and american express had said no to reclaimed bank charges, all in the same day!. Tiggrae told me to hang on in there which l did and got a reply today from Amex giving me refund on charges, not what l asked for but a 'goodwill' gesture,so thanks Tiggrae very much but do you think l should go for the whole amount? What they've done is given me the difference between the old charge and the new charge plus interest, It's about £300 less than what l asked for, although l am chuffed as it's my first success, so thanks you're fab X

    digitalmetal,
You'll have bother with Morgan Stanley/Goldfish, they have also just been bought over by Barclaycard, so I doubt MS will be wanting to settle anything in the meantime, however, you've done the right thing by contacting the FOS, they won't take too kindly to them dismissing you like that, it's in the banking guidlines that they all sign up to to answer complaints within an 8 week timescale and advising you at various times along they way at what stage your investigation is at, but they obviously don't want to do that.
Thanks to all the competition posters.
  • Hi all
Hopefully someone can help me before i go mad!
After a long period of letter writing to WF last year, requesting repayment of mis sold PPI (only sent 1st letter so far), they have written enclosing copies of all documentation we signed at the time of taking out the loan. Basically i am registered disabled and as i suffer from 4 chronic health conditions i was not informed of the implications this may have on the policy should i come to claim. I was also told on the phone at the time of applying that we would not be able to take out the loan without PPI.
They have now written to say we signed to say we were informed fully and aware of what we had purchased, they also ask for any evidence i may have in dispute of this.
I am just about to write the 2nd PPI template letter but wonder how i can argue my case if we have signed to confirm the above even though i know it is incorrect. The tick boxes could have been ticked after our signatures had been made for all i know! Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi there!
I am sorry but I actually need some help in looking through my past 7 years statements from Barclays bank in order to find how much I should claim back.
I understood I need to check and write down how much I think they own me back. After that I need to send Barclays a letter claiming the money back and wait. BUT where in the statment can I see what is wrong? Where can I find the figures? ANY HELP APPRECIATED, tHANKS
  • :pIf anyone else gets stuck claiming ppi back because they cant remember names of companies or the dates the agreements were took out or addresses etc my tip is to get a copy of your credit report from Equifax and Experian it costs a few quid takes few days as well if you get a postal one some offer online but its dearer. On there you will see 6years worth of credit history including settled loans cards catalogues etc as well as ones currently running. so if you finished paying someone a few year ago cant remember who etc look on there. Nearly all companies report to experian and the other credit reference agencies.note i found that greenwoods personal credit and provident cash loans didn't report to them though neither did shopacheck cash door to door loans (know what i mean).if you require further info because reports unclear on the companies you can write to the credit ref agency concerned who will give clarity on the agreement number address etc (just what we need when claiming back bank and ppi charges). few more tips i found confusing.... welcome finance appear on my credit report as progressive finance and beneficial finance appears as HFC bank. You might already know that but it baffled me.

Hi Danxx. On your statements you should see a line for what you are reclaiming, whether its late payment fees/over limit fees or PPI. You can then go to Martin's Court Interest calculator found under the 'reclaiming credit card charges' section on this site. You'll need to put enter the amount you were charged and the date the charge was applied. The system will then calculate how much you can reclaim based on the 8% interest a court would award.

    I hope I've understood your enquiry. :o

I would put it in writing every time and keep a copy of the letters you send and receive.
    Dear Sir or Madam,

    Re: Account number:
I purchased the above policy from you in January 2004 but now believe that I was mis-sold this policy for the following reason:

This is due to the fact that I was not given the correct information when the policy was sold to me, as having recently looked at the paperwork for my loan I have noticed that only Sarah Bailes is fully covered by the policy and Benjamin James Morgan is not covered at all, when I was informed led to believe that all parties were equally entitled to the insurance cover, so could not have been explained to me.

Unless you can satisfactorily justify to me that the policy was fair and reasonable I am requesting a full refund of all premiums, and subsequent interest on these payments, that I have paid to date. As I believe I have been deprived of this money I also expect 8% statutory interest, the amount a court would award, to be added to each payment made.

I look forward to a full and prompt response to this letter and for the matter to be concluded within eight weeks or I shall be contacting the Financial Ombudsman to investigate my complaint.

    Yours faithfully,

    Benjamin James Morgan
  • Hi everybody,

Just wondering if somebody could give me some advice on a PPI reclaiming matter.

Back in 2002 the wife & I took a secured loan from Paragon, via Purple Loans (Midland & General) - now GE Money. This loan was settled a couple of years ago, and looking at the paperwork we received the grand sum of £26 PPI refund from a lump sum premium of £2000!

I also believe that we were mis-sold the policy due to various reasons.

So, I have written to Paragon - who pointed the mis-selling on to Purple Loans (M&G). I then wrote to Purple, and have been advised that it is not their fault, but the matter should be taken-upo by the insurer. Oh and they also say the "policy was sold to you on a non-advised basis" even though I we did not tick the insurance box ourselves!!!

So, here is my question - where should I go from here? Back to Paragon as their name is the only one which appears on the certificate of insurance. OR just go straight to the FOS?

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • i personally would write to them all a very stiff letter saying its their last chance or you are going to the fos and are quite willing to take them court send it recorded delivery. If still no reply try a phone call then FOS i would always try to settle first before going to the bodies will take longer to rectify
