OHMIGOD, First Plus made me the usual offer, I went back asking for more information. I sent it by email and today sent it in writing too. Today I've received a letter telling me that they have refunded the money to my loan and my monthly premium will be reduced by about £60 - certainly not the amount of the PPI that is paid each month! More importantly I HAVE NOT asked them to refund it and have not returned their letter!

I am shocked and cannot believe they would do this. I've just phoned the guy I've been dealing with and have left him a very detailed message suggesting that not only does he respond to my questions but he also sorts out the refund as I have NOT agreed to it!
they just do what they want I did not ask for the first part of the rebate to be taken off my loan they just did it didnt ask my consent the enhanced rebate Im in dispute over, I wanted the amount to be refunded to me this is one of my main issues they wont and I have to drop the whole complaint unconditionally to accept the rebate gone to ombudsman:mad:

I might not mind so much if I had accepted the offer and returned their letter saying that I accepted it. But I haven't. Unbelieveable!
  • I've watched Martin on TV many times and thought his advice was great but not done much about it.

However, the PPI reclaiming really caught my attention; I used the template letters for Alliance & Leicester loans, Halifax cc, Alliance & Lecicester cc.

So far we have received £2,400 from A&L loans - a huge surprise as we've never questioned anything A&L have sold us before (customer for 17 years).

Alliance & Leicester cc argued that they did not mis-sell to us and they will not be discussing it further!! Received a very cheeky letter back from them and disappointed with their negative response, they've told us to contact the Ombudsman.!

Really really worried that we are just setting ourselves up for grief and problems with our cc provider?

    Anyone advise please?

 I just recieved a phone call from a company (sorry can't remember the name) saying they could claim all my ppi's back for me. I quickly asked him about fee's and if I was to win they would charge me 29% . I explained to him that I was doing all fo that myself and of course he tried to tell me that I would stand a better chance of winning if I went with them. I replied, "Do you know a chappy call Martin Lewis?" He said he had heard of him so I said "Well, he's a friend of mine". The bloke on the phone said O.K have a good evening and hung up :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    LOL good answer:T

    HI

Just to let you all know I went with the First Plus goodwill offer of £3092 - just less than half the original PPI - wanted to fight all the way but we just needed the money.

  • :D Hi all,

A most bizarre week regarding my complaint. First of all, no response from First Plus by the agreed date on all the letters. This suprised me as even though they are a shocking company, they normally do reply to you when they say they will, even if it is a fob off letter.
Waited a couple of days to see if it had been delayed in the post. Nothing came, not even the requested tape recordings!
Sent a really snotty email last night to my complaints executive demanding answers immediatly! (No really, the email was heated to say the least) :o Got a reply back from him today appologising and saying that there was a delay in getting the tapes from I.T. but that I would get a final response by Friday.
Ok I thought, but a couple of hours later I found an answer message on the phone from another complains executive who has now taken over my case, saying that she wanted to speak with me. Also, another email from her in my inbox really grovelling about how sorry they were and that my complaint had failed to be handled in the highest standard they would normally expect, and that she has passed it to "seniors managers" to investigate. It also said that a decition had been reached and that she would personally contact me tomorrow to discuss this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
WOW! From being totally frustated by the whole thing, I am now slightly optimistic. Would they personally contact me by phone if they were going to refuse to refund me????? Maybe this 4 MONTH saga is coming to an end at last!!!

    Lets wait and see.

  • Thanks for your thoughts smitchy73 !

Are Barclaycard notoriously difficult to claim from then ?

    I also have another question,
I have a personal loan with Alliance & Leicester and was told that my application would be denied if i did not take out "life cover" which i think is PPI in case i die.
Firstly can i claim this "life cover"back?
and secondly will A&L demand i repay everything i owe them immediately if i make a claim against them?

    Thanks

    digitalmetal,
You'll have bother with Morgan Stanley/Goldfish, they have also just been bought over by Barclaycard, so I doubt MS will be wanting to settle anything in the meantime, however, you've done the right thing by contacting the FOS, they won't take too kindly to them dismissing you like that, it's in the banking guidlines that they all sign up to to answer complaints within an 8 week timescale and advising you at various times along they way at what stage your investigation is at, but they obviously don't want to do that.

I have just recieved a letter from Nemo
our original loan was for 29,000 sold to us by broker central capital with payment protection of 7,177.50 total 36,177.50 october 2005 can we go through the broker which was debt buster loans via central capital for mis selling?
we later contacted them for a further advance of 10,000 approx 9 months later
so the new loan was for
    loan 39,000
    PPI 9,652.50
    TOTAL 48,652.50
(which paid off the original amount and added the advance)

They are saying we agreed to joint life cover for outstanding balance and single accident sickness and unemployment insurance on my husband for the first 5 years.
as the loan was more than 25,100 it was arranged on a non regulated basis.what does this mean?
they are saying we understood that we would only get back a limited rebate if we repay the our loan early.

do you think it would be a good idea to write back stating the disclosure of making large amounts of money at our expense as quoted by previous threads.

we have already payed off this loan and recieved just 1400 refund on PPI which I queried february 2007at the time so once I found out about FOS I sent in complaint form, they then contacted NEMO so the above info is the final response from NEMO I am sending it to FOS.
this is the same situation we are with First Plus dont know if we were referred by the broker again how will i find out if we were?
please please please can someone advise me on what we should do next.
