Can someone offer advice about claiming from First Plus?
I have 10 payments to go before i get the refund . Would it be wise to wait for the policy to pay out and then claim the interest back? The reason i ask this that people keep mention 78% offers from first plus for refunds and i am past 78% with my payments(about 82%). i have all the origanal paperwork they sent and have a strong case for misselling. Please Help

you can only ask! you dont have to cancel the policy if they dont uphold yor claim for misselling you the policy it will still run until you cancel it nothing to loose by asking

The welcome loans, it would be interesting to know if they were car or personal loans. Wecome did some peculiar things back in 2003 which they are currently being challenged on.
I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.

However, I have since seen the light.

    Hi Laini,

What has stopped you reporting them to the FOS ?

    DigitalMetal

I have nt had an answer either way on my refund /miss selling of PPI.
they are still looking into it.
I will take it to FOS if the answer is not favourable.

  • I have had the same response from Egg. They sent print outs of what i filled in on the internet application. On my print outs headed 'APPLICATION REVIEW' the details i filled in ie.name, address, financial summary etc, are all in dark grey ( no mention of PPI)...the 'payment protection,''credit limit' and 'credit score' seem to be their section and there isn't a yes/no, tick box of any sort.
I wil send a letter tomorrow to ask for copy of the signed form for accepting PPI and for a correct print out showing the yes/no option.

Please can you look at your reply from Egg and see if u think i'm correct in what i see on the print outs

    Hi gettingdebtfree

I have checked the print that I received and yes its the same as you have. One A4 page, with what appears to be a copy of 2 different pc screens. The top being the application review, which I completed and the other does appear to be their screen with employment and fiancial details. Again, I don't see any yes/no option for the PPI, and I believe at the time I applied, which is some year ago now, so memory a little sketchy, it was just added.
There are a few things that seem odd! On their screen they have my employment address as my work address, I would never have done that! Also their screen shows a credit limit, and a pref limit, above the payment protection box. Do you think this limit is for the credit card or the amount of cover the ppi is for. If its the credit limit, its way higher than the limit they have ever given me.

I recieved a reply to the letter I sent them last week regarding the address problem etc, and they have not answered my questions, just refered me back to the fob off letter that was originally sent:mad:  . What to do now! Think another letter to them asking for signed agreement, followed by swift referral to FSO!

Hope you have had better success than I! Will keep updates posted.

I have just recieved a letter from Nemo
our original loan was for 29,000 sold to us by broker central capital with payment protection of 7,177.50 total 36,177.50 october 2005 can we go through the broker which was debt buster loans via central capital for mis selling?
we later contacted them for a further advance of 10,000 approx 9 months later
so the new loan was for
    loan 39,000
    PPI 9,652.50
    TOTAL 48,652.50
(which paid off the original amount and added the advance)

They are saying we agreed to joint life cover for outstanding balance and single accident sickness and unemployment insurance on my husband for the first 5 years.
as the loan was more than 25,100 it was arranged on a non regulated basis.what does this mean?
they are saying we understood that we would only get back a limited rebate if we repay the our loan early.

do you think it would be a good idea to write back stating the disclosure of making large amounts of money at our expense as quoted by previous threads.

we have already payed off this loan and recieved just 1400 refund on PPI which I queried february 2007at the time so once I found out about FOS I sent in complaint form, they then contacted NEMO so the above info is the final response from NEMO I am sending it to FOS.
this is the same situation we are with First Plus dont know if we were referred by the broker again how will i find out if we were?
please please please can someone advise me on what we should do next.

    Me again!!

We had our first secured loan with Welcome may2005 I have tried claiming back the PPI with other insurances which we were had on too-cant believe we were so daft!!
    anyway just wanted to know
could I claim for acceptance fee of 235
also I have read up on mortgage indemnity which is the insurance for the Lender but it doesnt say if you can be refunded on this if you settle the loan.
will it be classed as just a high interest cover for high risk client.
    the loan was for 12,000
    PPI 2242
    homecare 125
    lifecare 175
    medicare 200
    acceptance fee 235
    mortgage indemnity 1320
    total 16297.15

only had the loan 5 months paying 5 x 256.97
    settlement figure 13374.17

    does this sound right?
they have said we have no evidence to say it was mis sold and if we complained to FOS Welcome would request to dismiss under the FOS rule DISP 3.3.1(3) R on the grounds that it has no reasonable prospect of success

how do we stand on this ?

  • hi everyone, quick question. I emailed Martins first template tp HSBC 4 weeks ago. got a letter 2 days letter saying they were looking into it.

this morning (4weeks later) I received a letter saying they are still investigating and will write to me to 'update me' on their progress.

surely they should of written that they will be sending me their findings/results in 4 weeks not an update because that would mean the 8 weeks would be up.

question - is this just a standard prewritten letter or should I contact them telling them that I dont want an update in 4 weeks but want a response? or should I just wait until the full 8 weeks are up?

    any advise would be welcome

you cannot go to the FOS until the 8 weeks are up. Sit tight for now. This will be a long process.

  • I am having exactly the same problem with Welcome , i have written to them phoned them for a breakdown. i had single premiums added to laon, paid them off early due to refiancing. Asked what refund i got, response was we will not be corresponding with you any further. i have now written to the FOS despite the loans being in 2003, i was advised they will look at it due to the new ruling regarding single premiums.
I will keep you upto date whats happening if you do the same

Well I went to see Welcome Finance this morning. I am on my 3rd loan in a year (each repaying the previous). Anyway I asked for a breakdown on how they calculated the settlement figure on the first 2 loans. Well apparently they don't know - the computer works it out. So when I asked about PPI refund I was told it is included in the settlement figure, so I asked if they don't know how the settlement figure is calculated then how can they say for definite the refund was taken off the settlement figure? Apparently I just have to believe them. Also - despite paying single PPI premium up front which was added on to the loan figure - PPI is only paid monthly so I haven't paid up front. He seems to think because I am paying monthly premiums to Welcome, this means my PPI is being paid monthly too. I tried to explain I had paid PPI up front - Welcome added the figure to the loan and it is the loan figure I am paying back monthly. Honestly - I don't think their staff even understand what is going on.

I am going to have to escalate this too!! Sigh.

Tell me mortimerrankine are you going for PPI mis-selling or PPI refund on early repayment?
