  • Hi all,

A quick update on my complaint. Phoned First Plus just before I was about to send off my complaint to the FOS just to clarify that I had received their final response due to them not replying to my second or third letter. I was told by their 'call centre hen' that my complaint had been reopened on the 7th January!!! (This was after I sent my third letter threatening them with court action!) He went on to say that they had sent me a confirmation letter about this and that they were reviewing the case. I told him that I never received the said letter and wanted to know what was happening. He said that he couldn't tell me because it wasn't his department:rotfl: and he couldn't access the "complaints department" computer as it was closed!!! I made a joke about making them work overtime because of the high number of complaints they must be receiving!!!:rotfl: Anyway, he agreed to leave a note for the complaints department and for them to contact me tomorrow via email. I've held back sending my letter to the FOS to see what happens.

    I'll keep everyone posted!!!

Thanks!! I must admit i'd given up any hope of them offering any sort of settlement. You never know, they might surprise me!!!

P.S. My computer wont let me thank anyone. I'm clicking on the icon, but it doesn't work. Do you need to do anything else?:o :o:o:o:o

Hello All, new here so please be kind :D

Posted my 2nd letter to Halifax to reclaim PPI on credit card on 8th Jan. Been checking the post daily for a response as I gave them 14 days to reply. Not heard anything and just by chance checked with Royal Mail and apparently my recorded letter has been lost and never delivered. I've resent the letter today.

Just a 'heads up' to everyone who hasn't received a reply from whichever company they're dealing with, make sure your recorded letter has actually been delivered before waiting for the postman to bring a reply.

(Great site, been lurking for ages, finally took the plunge).
Ive got exactly the same problem, now 3 weeks. Going to send another by special delivery this time if nothing shows tomorow.

Don't get any expectations up in regard to having a financial settlement from Barclays at the letter stage unless you have really strong evidence of misselling. You will shortly get a stock reply to your complaint and it will suggest contacting the FOS, so be prepared for this.

How right your were - got the final response today suggesting going to the ombudsman. What next then? Do I inform Barlcays that I will be sending the compliant there or just do it and let them handle it from here. Is there any point in contacting Barclays again now or is it out of their hands? Has anyone had any success with Barclays once the complaint has gone to the Ombudsman?

    Help - I am desparate!!!!!

OH phoned the Credit Card company last night to find out when he originally took out the card, the nice lady was very helpful. He then said he'd like to cancel the PPI, and she put him through to another department. The call was taken by a very gruff and abrupt sounding man (do they pick these people specifically for that department?!), who instantly asked why OH was cancelling, I'd briefed him to reply that we'd found cheaper elsewhere. "You do realise you have life cover" was the next statement, as though we'd be stupid to cancel, OH said no, wasn't even aware of that (which backs up our claim I think!), Nasty Bank Man read out a statement, part of which I overheard said that OH was now not allowed to make a claim. Is this true?

I've sent his claim letter in anyway, but dated it to the day before the cancellation... teehee!

Bit concerned though if they're telling us we're not allowed to claim when we cancel PPI. Is that allowed?

Can anyone tell me if i have a claim. Had a Loan with northern rock which is now paid off in full. I was wondering if i can claim my ppi back as i tried to cancel it after a while but was told i had to take a new agreement out. Checked with them today and they told me that this is the case, if I had wanted to cancel the ppi i would have to re-apply. Can i Claim back the money i paid them. I'm still with them but on a newer agreement with no ppi. Loan was for 15000, not sure what my monthly payments were but i have requested the information. Please help

I've got exactly the same situation. I've decided to send a letter off and see what happens. So far it's cost me £1.04 (cost of recorded delivery) but as I'm saving £40 a month by cancelling my PPI, I figure it's worth it!

Definitely, definitely give it a go. I know it's nerve-wracking, I was so tense when cancelling I ended up with shoulder ache! Plus my brain has been jumping about all over the place about writing the letters. OH just cancelled his PPI and he felt very weird afterwards, it had been a nerve-wracking call for him too!
But are you gonna let banks take £100s of YOUR money just because they try to make you feel bad! Hell no! Send that letter!
(I only did it yesterday and I'm soooo glad I did!)

I think what they mean is you can't make a claim for sickness etc not you can't make a claim for mis selling !
