  • Well, after much deliberation i have decided to send a final letter to firstplus asking for interest on top of their offer!
Having scrolled through the 'successes & failures ' page it would seem that, if you dig your heels in hard enough, they eventually pay up!
I will let you know the outcome!;)

hi i am new at this sort of stuff and not great on computers so you will have to bear with me!. i have a loan for 9000 and i was told that i could have a rebate of nearly 2000, but it has to come off the loan amount. they have also rescheduled a new loan over two years instead of nearly four years which i had left on the previous loan.
i told them there was no way i could afford the repayments and they have told me i have to have one over seven years or more to pay the monthly amount i can afford. can they do this?
i was paying 180 a month and the ppi was fifty pound amonth so surely if they stop the ppi i should be able to have a new monthly payment of 130. does that make sense to anyone?
if anyone can help i would be grateful.
    PLEASE HELP

    hi there,
i wrote my letter to lloydstsb and they said they couldnt do it by letter, it had to be over the phone(even though in their leaflet they said it could only be done by letter). anyway, they agreed that i had been mis-sold my ppi but would only cancel my original loan, ask me to take out a new one, and only refund the ppi i paid back into my new loan payments, not into my account. can they do this? it's my money. but they said that my new loan application 'would be in jeopardy' if i refused. in other words, if i didnt do as they said, i'd have to pay the whole loan back. why cant i just keep my original loan and get a refund on the ppi. it's their mistake, not mine.should i accept?
Hi there, they are entitled to ask for a 2nd loan to be taken out, this is what the FSA have to say. However, they should repay you the monies you've paid - in other words they're not treating your fairly. What I'd do is write and ask for the transcript of the telephone conversation, tell them you've been told the loan is in jeopardy if you refuse - tell them bullying tactics is 'not treating people fairly' and once you have a transcript of the telephone conversation you'll be making a formal complaint to the Financial Ombudsman regarding their attempt to intimidate and bully you into acceptance.

    treat their customers fairly if they need to reissue the associated loan in order to cancel the PPI;

    Hi everyone,
i am so glad of all the support that i receive from you...means a lot and you don't feel alone!!
I post my letter today so now lets see what happen!!
The reply they gave was that their advisor they are trained to sell the PPI so this is should a valid reason fro them to refuse the fact that they didn't mis-sold the PPI. Then they offer you a new loan after they cancel the PPI for you but they offer an higher PPI and they suggest you increase the ammount in your loan so you end up to pay the same ammount if not more...and your debt increase instead to decrease!! Its a principle matter but i know the they are the strongest one!!!
    Good luck to everyone!!
    Keep you posted!!!

if you're claiming for mis SELLING, it's always the person / company who sold the policy to you in the first place you take your complaint to
  • Hello All, new here so please be kind :D

Posted my 2nd letter to Halifax to reclaim PPI on credit card on 8th Jan. Been checking the post daily for a response as I gave them 14 days to reply. Not heard anything and just by chance checked with Royal Mail and apparently my recorded letter has been lost and never delivered. I've resent the letter today.

Just a 'heads up' to everyone who hasn't received a reply from whichever company they're dealing with, make sure your recorded letter has actually been delivered before waiting for the postman to bring a reply.

(Great site, been lurking for ages, finally took the plunge).
  • Can anyone tell me if i have a claim. Had a Loan with northern rock which is now paid off in full. I was wondering if i can claim my ppi back as i tried to cancel it after a while but was told i had to take a new agreement out. Checked with them today and they told me that this is the case, if I had wanted to cancel the ppi i would have to re-apply. Can i Claim back the money i paid them. I'm still with them but on a newer agreement with no ppi. Loan was for 15000, not sure what my monthly payments were but i have requested the information. Please help

Threaten to reclaim through the courts

same thing happened with me , I took out loan with Freedom Finance back in 2002, and our loan was a single premium, the reply I had was same as yours....not covered by FOS etc....have been advised to raise the point regarding the FSA in October 2005 reporting the following failings in good practice on the sale of PPI, pointing out the 4th note in particular on the list and told to challenge them saying I'll take the case to court and under CPR18 (Court Procedure Rule) -request further information and training records.
In the process of doing letter now will keep you posted on how things go for me. Let me know how things go for you as we're in pretty much the same predicament.

Something I have only just realised..... which goes to show we had no idea we even had PPI (until all the press about it and the wonderful Martin)
My husband was off work for 7 months last year very ill and we did not claim (because, stupidly we didnt know we even had PPI!)We pay £250 a month !!!
Should I mention this in my letter? Also have not mentioned the single premium thing to them, do I need to ....or just get letter off as mentioned above re FOS findings and Court action

    Hi RT,

If you read my posts i have had the exact same response from LTSB and my loan was nov 98!

I have gone to the FOS and LSTB have now raised a jurisdiction issue ( they are suggesting to the FOS they shouldnt deal with my complaint due to 2.3.1 )

LTSB have however told me if the FOS take on my case they will settle.
I am waiting on a decision from the FOS if they will take on my case and i'll keep you posted on how i get on.

Yes please keep me posted on how you get on. Good luck.
