ps if you remain unhappy with their response make a complaint to the FOS - and send a copy of the complaint form to First Plus as 'a courtesy' !
Does 'this courtesy' have any impact. I ask because this morning i was writing to Barclays Bank to inform them that my complaint against them over the misselling of PPI is now with the FOS.
I wasn't planning to send them a copy of the FOS complaints form, but would consider it if you were aware of it having had an impact on previous cases.0 -

Hi everyone
Wife has an account with this catalogue which she pays evey month. She also pays interest on outstanding balance each month which we accept. The only thing we want to query is she ALSO pays what is called peace of mind plan. Am I correct in thinking that this PPI called by a different name. Pretty sure it is.

At no time can she remember being asked about it and she has certainly not signed anything for it. It's not a lot of money taken of the period we have noticed and feel it me have been added as a 3 month free trial/cancel if you do not want policy.
Whats the best way to approach this.
Thanks

Hi there,
Hope I'm not repeating a question here!!
Can I try to claim if I have previously sent my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman and they decided in favour of the bank?!?
I was working through a temping agency when I went to my bank to consolidate a loan and credit card and borrow a few £ more on top.
I told the bank my circumstances and they were fine.
The new loan was sorted out and the advisor suggested that I should take out PPI. I took his advice!!
I became unemployed and tried to claim and I was told that I couldn't claim as I had been working through a temping agency!!
After many meetings with the bank I was told that I should have read the small print, I wasn't able to claim and I was going to default on my loan and credit card and it would show on my credit report.
I sought advice and sent my case to the Financial Ombudsman, who decided to my horror, that the bank were right!!
Anyway I didn't get any money back, I've got 2 defaults on my credit report but I still feel that I have a case.0 -
this is a difficult one as I don't think the FOS would look at this given it was 13 years ago when the policy was sold, your only recourse would be the County Courts stating the Statute of Limitations 1980 doesn't apply (ie the 6 year limit) as you've had contact with the provider within the last 6 years
Thanks Tiggrae, what would be my chances, yes the box was ticked for insurance but at no time was the policy properly explained so ultimately the policy was not worth the paper it was printed on!! Is the onus on them still to prove that all was above board or would it be down to us to prove otherwise.
Thanks again for all your help:beer:0 -
