    Hi,

Basically have a strong case against HSBC for a PPI reclaim of 3k. Sent the template letter (thanks!) from this site 7th November, and have a couple of pointers that may help.

    - Despite having sent copies of the original loan agreement, the process was delayed as my branch hadn't sent the info requested by their complaints dept. I phoned in a kick up the bum and it arrived - it's worth calling to see where they are.

    - Just received a letter saying they needed another 4 weeks (despite having everything they need to process the complaint). Claims are dealt with on a 'date received' basis - is this an indication that the PPI claims are increasing??

Making sure your letter gets there quickly. Based on my bank charges reclaim, both RBS and HSBC 'lost' my letters, so send them recorded - according to HSBC, recorded letters 'may' take upto 1 month before entering their systems.

Solution - I now send two duplicate letters, one recorded, the other not!

Lessons to be learnt by the banks - nobody expects a business not to make a profit, but be too greedy and it does, and has come back to bite you!

We should all have taken a long-term view on this bank charges and PPI farce, and put all reclaimed monies in a big pot to fund a campaign to get Martin into No.10!!

Got a response from Tesco today and they even tried to ring me. They said they are looking into it and will get back to me by 13th Dec which is good.

Absolutely. I think you would stand a serious chance of getting far more than just your ppi from these companies. I will pm you with my contact details.

However, I have since seen the light.

    Hi all

My first time on this site but have been reading discussions.

Have been trying to reclaim PPI on A and L CC taken out on 20/9/03. Did not have copy of paperwork but decided to reclaim PPI anyway.

They replied and sent paperwork back with copy of my application which I had ticked for PPI, so my mistake fair enough. On checking the original application I found that I had correctly stated that I was self employed and that I had put my partner as an original card holder. I wonder 1) would me being self employed (my partner also) have made the PPI invalid and secondly would my partner have been covered for PPI.

They have replied as final response to my original letter but I have further queries so do I reply to them or just go straight to the Ombudsman with my additional queries. Also they stated that they had enclosed copies of Terms and Conditions nov 2004 - Jan 2007 (which they conveniently forgot to enclose) this would not have been relevant when I took out the original cc anyway.

So do I send them a follow up letter even though they have said "we will not enter into any further correspondence regarding this matter, unless instructed to do so by the Financial Ombudsman Service".

Please can somebody give me some guidance on this.

    Many thanks

    Hi gt568.

I happen to have gained knowledge that is most useful in challenging a large proportion loans and mortages. But with powerful knowledge comes responsibility.

So if we don't go through your company, you won't help out? Not really the ethos of MSE though.
