  • Hello all I saw something on the TV with MSE's martin talking about reclaiming PPi's and remembered i was talked into taking a PPI out when i opened a Dorothy Perkins/Debenhams storecard in 1999. Well when i took it out i was a student and put that on the form, then when i became sick and not working a few years later they said my PPI wouldnt cover me.

Anyway i cancelled the account about 2 years ago when i had cleared all of the balance and forgot all about it til i saw this on the tv. I copied the template letter and sent it to GE Capital Bank who the PPI was sold by for Dorothy Perkins and within 2 weeks i got a letter back saying they would refund my premiums, interest and a small amount of cash compensation. In total i received a cheque for £951.00!!

I'm delighted and am now trying to reclaim by £600 of bank charges accumulated in 2002-2005 whenever this court thing should end. My advice - try and reclaim ur PPi's as the worst you can be told is no, and for 10 mins of filling out the template letter and a 1st class stamp you might just get a good result like i did!

  • Hi there everyone

Firstly I can happily state that I managed to reclaim £660 from Lloyds TSB on bank charges in August 07
Having read the PPI discussions etc I have sent off several letters having had several loads, store cards etc over the years.
in the last three weeks I have had two relcims successess
    RBS Credit Card £129
    Tesco Finance Credit Card £114
Reclaiming £168 from Marbles Credit card - they said no way after 2nd letter so I sent them a copy of the FOS form I'd completed(but never actually posted) saying that it was now in their hands and lo and behold they called me to say that a cheque was on it's way even though their original and last letter said I should go to the FOS...ha ha
However trying to reclaim in total £70 PPI on MBNA credit card and £360 on late fees etc. I asked for both of these on one letter - received a reply regarding the late fees with a gesture of good will for £177 - I said no way give me back the full £360 or otherwise FOS. But have today received letter from them on the PPI saying that I ticked the box when I made the application and that I had 30 days to cancel and if I had not made an attempt to cancel in all the time I had it applied to my card then they won't payout. My argument is that the wording on the form (eveidence they sent back to me showing I had ticked box) states that they strongly recommend I have PPI with my credit card. Surely with just a brief description of what it covers, accident, sickness, unemployment etc isn't sufficient to make an on the spot application decision as to whether it is suitable or not? They say in their recent letter that they sent all the policy info but I have never received it and that they have sent further updates recently (in 2005 and 207) and again I don't recall recieveing them...can I therefore go back and say that I want my £70 back or does anyone out there think I should just forget about it!
ANy advice greatly appreciated. Thanks - I hate MBNA, Welcome Finance, EGG Card, TSB, Halifax, Beneficial Finance.......etc etc etc ...they all owe me money!

that's absolute rubbish - regardless of whether you're still paying the premiums or not - if you've been mis sold a policy you're legally entitled to reclaim back all the premiums paid !!!
    Thanks Tiggrae for your advice.

Please could you tell me, which of Martin's forms I should use for my claims.
It seems you know a lot about this subject.
    Many Thanks again.

HI Bowman, unfortunately we use our own letters so although I'm very familiar with the subject I'm not that familiar with what's on here, but from what I've read it seems there may just be one letter and you delete the bits out which aren't appropriate to your claim. Good luck

Write again - you've nothing to lose, if you took out the PPI pre 2004 you won't be able to go to the FOS as it's outside their timescales so threaten them with court.

As to the charges, we don't even bother writing and asking for them, they never pay out in full - they work out the diff between what you've paid and the now £12charge. Just start court proceedings (there's probably a template on the bank charges forum) and they ALWAYS pay up, in full, including statutory interest and court fee.

  • Hi, Im claiming PPI from Swift and Welcome. Sent letters last week to both and received a reply from Welcome today saying '...We anticipate the review of our telephony records to be completed shortly' and they will contact me again within the next 28 days to update me on their progress.
Has anyone else received anything from these companies yet?
