I suppose reporting these misleading letters to Trading Standards is the only thing that could be done, but they rarely do anything.Je suis Charlie.0

Hi acapaldi, I'm in agreement with the others now.New members, please refer to "sticky" threads that are alwasys "stuck" at the top of this forum0

"Just look at Fawkes' example: he got these letters in January (as far as I can make out). And have they started legal action against him? Nope!"
The letter arrived the same day as Acapaldi, Bazster. Junk mail has arrived since last June think it is. There was a big gap since the end of January till May.
Letters all state Car Park Management Services. This company does not exist on the BPA or company house. Car Park Management Services Ltd exists and was incorporated on the 18/06/2014.0 -
All the signs I have seen have "Car Park Management Services" not "Car Park Management Service Ltd".
I also know that CPMS are about to be dropped and to be replaced with another parking company. Even the landowner thinks they're s***0 -

Yes but that's not the company you are dealing with. Your lot is now "Car Park Management Services (CPMS) Ltd.", although even they don't seem to realise that!
But as Edna pointed out the company didn't even exist when these tickets were issued so it can't possibly have assigned the supposed debts to someone else.Je suis Charlie.0 -
ok , who wants to break the news to MIL ,0

They probably already know. It'll be the bloke at the next desk I reckon.Je Suis Cecil.0

CPMS Ltd and MiL have already come up with a nonsense assignment so it might be unwise to ignore the possibility that a previous assignment (from LH t/a CPMS to CPMS Ltd) doesn't exist (ahem). I'd therefore suggest that a straightforward rejection of the debt is the best approach without disclosing a knowledge of the background. MiL are clearly bluff and bluster merchants (typical DCA) and are unlikely to issue proceedings IMO. If they do so many issues can be thrown at their feet that their life will not be easy.
And all this from someone who regards his cleaning business as his principal interest. My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -

Might be worth the OP (and/or Fawkes) dropping a line to MIL to let them know their little wheeze has been rumbled:
Dear Sirs
According to the "goodbye" letter I received from them, the company you have supposedly bought this alleged debt from is registered company number 9091690. I presume this was actually intended to read 09091690, which is Car Park Management Services (CPMS) Limited (not "Car Park Management Services" as your purported notice of assignment states).
Unfortunately for you Car Park Management Services (CPMS) Limited was not incorporated until 18th June 2014, so it is impossible for me to have any debt to that company dating back to 2013. I hope you didn't pay too much for this non-debt!
Now that you are apprised of the facts I will treat any further attempt by you to collect this non-existent debt from me as a misleading and aggressive business practice contrary to the Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and I will report the matter to Trading Standards accordingly.Je suis Charlie.0 -

Lesley can't have assigned the supposed debt to CPMS without the OP having been sent a notice of the assignment.Je suis Charlie.0
