Free mobile voice, text and data plans coming to UK ( Freedompop )

The reason they can offer this and still make money, but also a good reason to be sceptical, is that the "voice" they offer only goes over VoIP. In other words, you will not be able to make normal voice calls, only voice using 3G/4G. Not being able to use 2G for voice means your coverage will be worse. In the US, if you want to use good old 2G with FreedomPop, you need to get their "premium voice" service...have a taste of that - you normally use 3G and if you pay a premium, you get the privilege of falling back to 2G! Makes sense though if you want to be able to make good old calls where there is only EDGE or GPRS.
Their business model is fundamentally different to other MVNOs in that they only purchase data from the operator, no voice or text.0 -
I have discovered a company called Freedom Pop who are American and about to launch in the UK. If I have understood it correctly, they will GIVE you a SIM with a monthly allowance of 200 mins, 200 texts and 200MB of data. They make money it seems, when people either ask for more,or run over. My reckoning is that if you (or folk who only use a mobile for emergency's) use their service, it could be brilliant. It costs nothing to register. The media have covered it and their findings/reports are here. Please don't use this as spam, because as I see it, the more people:j that register, the sooner it may come.

From the article in following link.
Those interested in being among the first to try the FreedomPop service should head to the company's website at freedompop.com/uk. There you can sign up to be a beta tester.
FreedomPop is also launching Jetsetter, a global SIM that offers free data around the world, starting with Europe initially. It provides 100MB of data a month for free to be used while roaming and has bolt-ons to expand that. Again, you can sign up to test the service during its beta phase.

I saw a few months ago that Freedom Pop was looking to come to the UK, I think that it will be a good replacement for OVIVIO.0

Now starting to take the first batch of subscribers. It's not actually free to sign up, but costs £6.99. £1.99 is the delivery charge for a new SIM card and £5 to activate it. After that, you can get 200 UK minutes, 200 texts and 200MB of data every month absolutely free. There are also options to refer friends etc to increase these limits. Not big limits but good enough for light users, a second phone, a child, or your gran!
Click the green Check Availability button to sign up then be careful - they try to trick you into signing up for a few free trials that you'll later be charged for. After choosing the SIM card size, select the "Basic 200" option. On the next screen, click the tiny "No thanks" link at the bottom. On the following screen, untick "Premium Voice Trial".
I believe they're using the Three network, so check your coverage first. I'm not affiliated in any way with FreedomPop, and I've only just registered so no idea what the service is like, but for £6.99 one-off then free "for life" I think it's worth a punt.
One further tip - when you receive your user name and password by email, log on to the web portal, go to the Billing section and turn off "auto top-up".
Also, you can't get port your existing mobile number over yet, but apparently this service is coming soon.

You forgot to mention that Calls and text are done over Data so you have to download an app i think it's a bit like skype so the call quality won't be all that i would think.
Another thing is your data protection Freepop will be giving it to other companies so you may get loads of junk mail and spam.
I'll be giving it a miss.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.0
