I find the 7 day forecasts not very good and if stuck for the bbq is there anychance of borrowing a marquee/party tent? We have a cobb bbq oven which if rain starts we can pick up and use in the kitchen as once lit there is no smoke. The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0

Got one. But what if its raining? Its showing no rain but full cloud cover...i wander how accurate these 7day forecasts are?0

Is there somewhere you can hire marquee tents cheap??0

You could just bring the party indoors unless you have a big garden and a small house. I don't think most people mind if it's a bit cramped at a party. They are all about getting close with people really.
If you want to hire a marquee or gazebo then I guess your best bet is to figure out how many people your expecting and how big you need and then check the yellow pages/ thomson local/ phone book/ local paper and ring around for a couple of quotes.
As far as the accuracy of the seven day forecast is concerned it's really relative. They're very good considering the difficulties involved but far from a sure thing.0 -
....How very confusing!
One weather forecast site(country weather i think its called) is saying it is sunny and a little cloudy here on saturday with no rain where as the weather channel site is saying its cloudy with showers here on Saturday....how confusing...i wonder why these sites have different weather forecasts.0 -
id do as suggested above borrow a few gazebos with sides , and it can still go ahead

We used to live next door some Americans (US Airforce). They would be out in all weathers having a bbq. Well, I say they, but it would normally be the husband outside under a brolly whilst she would stay inside and entertain! This would be throughout wind, rain and snow (and the occasional bit of sun!) in the UK!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0

Those George Foreman grills are excellent for inside BBQ food.
Hope the weather holds out for you.

What does the UK metoffice say? Surely they have the most accurate weatherforecasts within the UK. Isn't there a number you can phone to get a detailed local weatherforecast for walkers and suchlike?0 -
Queenie wrote:The best recipe I've impressed family and friends with (but never 40 at once!) is "Chicken on a Beer Can" - DeeeeLish!!
Basically, el cheapo chicken, a can of beer: drink top 1/3rd of beer, stick chicken onto it so that it is "standing" and the can is now upright inside the chicken cavity (the can base and the legs form the tripod to make it look like it's "standing"). You can add a rub of seasoned butter to the skin of the chicken before cooking - I use herbs mashed in butter. As the beer heats up, it steams the inside of the chicken at the same time as the heat from the coals cooks the chicken upwards. (A 3lb chicken will take approx 1½hrs) You could easily cook 2-3 of these and then leave to stand for about 15mins, in which time you can cook your sausages, burgers or other faster cooking items.
Big bowl of hm coleslaw, crusty bread, fresh fruit served on ice and voila
Anyone have any further detailed info/advice on how to cook this great sounding chicken on the BBQ or Oven???
Also what is fresh fruit served on ice...and how do you do it/make it.
...Anybody else got any tasty or cool/trendy BBQ food or drink ideas??0
