Thanks for this - I dye my hair (did it on Tuesday night...must be something in the air
) and the only thing I've found that removed the excess dye from my skin was nailvarnish remover  I'd much rather use some wipes, plus OH would probably be happier too since he can't breathe around me when I've dyed my hair and I need him to clean up my neck properly
The nailvarnish remover just make the situation for him even worse
I always use neat shampoo on a dampened bit of cotton wool for removing hair dye from skin, works perfectly0 -
I have two colours in my hair, dark redish brown and blonde, and swear by redkens colour extend, usually the lustre of the dark fades quite quickly and used to go a wishy washey colour, not now!
It is expensive but you only need the smallest amount of shampoo/cond to do the job, try e-bay thats where I buy all my redken, they also do a brilliant "re-charge" product that really boots the colour.
Hope that helps

Hi Guys, I really need help with this one. Due to various factors coming up my partner and I will be really watching the pennies so this really has to get done at home (any college appointments would mean step-daughter missing school and thats a no-no).
Anyway my step-daughter has decided she wants to go blonde (she's been blonde before, done by a neighbour and it was very patchy). At the moment her hair is dyed black (done by me), with pink and purple highlights (again done by me as her Dad said she could have it done). She really wants to go blonde, her natural hair colour is mid-brown (which she hates with a passion). She's told me she wants it blonde for Christmas (I'm blonde by the way). She hates going to the hairdresser and her Dad and I really don't have a lot of spare cash at the moment and taking her to a college isn't an option because of school. Is there anyone out there that can advise me what I need to get? I'm pretty good at colouring, highlights, weaves and flashes but just want to make sure I get the right stuff as i don't want to turn her hair ginger. Can anyone help please?CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. A wig?
You could do a search for previous hair colour threads, but it might be tricky to get the current colours out and then lighten without doing serious damage.
A bit cheeky maybe, but could she be persuaded to go for a consultation at a local hairdressers and see what they say? A good salon would talk to you without charging, I'm sure, especially if you're still just thinking about it.
Or see if the local college does any evening sessions? I am sure ours does.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
going from black to blonde is a big jump, seriosly consider getting it done at a hairdressers
i tried to do it and ended up with a green strip and half my hair broken off0 -
You can buy solution from a chemist that takes all the hairdye out of your hair, cost about £5.00. Once out I would leave for about a week or longer if possible and condition hair then use something like Nice and Easy blonde. Go for Ash blondes rather than golden blondes as the hair will go ginger with golden blondesCompetitions wins 2010

i've gone from unnatural black to blonde a couple of times and my advice is get it done professionally! it can go horribly wrong if you do it yourself - from her hair going the wrong colour to her hair getting terribly damaged.
Problem with home kits is that the peroxides they use are a much higher percentage, thus are more damaging.
another problem is, the last time i had it done -they did bleach shampoos and my scalp stung horribly!0 -
I second the fact that it can go horribly wrong if the wrong products are used, so make sure you get good stuff.
About not being able to get it done at a college, most do hairdressing as an evening or weekend course so she would be able to get it done after school (and done properly), the ones round here are open until 9pm most days and also on Saturdays. Are you sure she couldn't get it done there?0 -
