About this free parking ,is it easy to find and how far a walk is it ( carrying cases of food and booze) ? did your car still have wheels on your return? ;o)

It's not the weather in Stavanger that you should worry about, as we are not there long enough! Be more concerned with the North sea forecast - check out the shipping forecast on the met office site

I'll be there on Sunday too - at the front looking out for icebergs. lol

Weather is supposed to be good for this weekends' trip

And I certainly won't be trusting my car in the hands of the local housing estate

1 - you could get the metro to say North Shields station then get a taxi.
2 - search weather on bbc weather site!

Don't carry your cases unless you are travelling alone, there is a drop off point which you want to use first (eg for husband;) and bags) then walk back alone.:D

  • hello
we did the trip last sunday, was very good, expensive on board...£16 for 3 pints of beer and a vodka and coke....a turkey and cheese roll £6.25...but mini hotdogs were not bad at £3.40 for two.the breakfast was very good....such a huge selection...we sneaked some danish pastries into a bag and had them for lunch with our coffee !there is no ATM at either the ferry terminal or onboard...they do not take debit cards....there is duty free in the ships shop....we paid £16 for 200 ciggies....and common brands like regal and lambert and butler were £25 per 200...we bought "H.B" they are smokeable !!!..entertainment was good, cabins clean, we took pot noodles etc..a kettle and bottles of water for tea , coffee and cuppa soups...and a bit sneaky but we decanted some vodka into a water bottle and sat at the back of the club and just bought glasses of coke..made it a much cheaper night !!! as long as you dont get caught !!!..staff were in my opinion excellent..very helpful and friendly.. we didnt get long in stavanger but we knew that before we went ...my husband has a bad back and cant walk far so we didnt venture far..we had a fantastic time and would do it again...so anyone heading off on this cruise ..take your provisions  and you wont be too much out of pocket....and i reckon like us you will have a fantastic trip

Right, three friends and I wen ton the free minicruise from Newcastle to Norway last Sunday. I thought it was great. We payed for the secure parking (split between 4 makes it ok i guess). We took shed loads of john west tuna meals, cuppa soups, croissants and mini jams for brekky, drinks, alcohol etc. In fact it was a bit embarrassing at check in, but still, well worth it. We took a travel kettle and adapter too for coffee, tea and horlicks!

The cabin was clean, shower was powerful. The beds were comfy and although it was rough on the way out, we were not ill.

Yes, the onboard prices are expensive, but we expected that.

We only had about an hour in Norway, but again we expected it.

The crew were brilliant and I agree about the food on board, we treat ourselves to one meal which was 25 quid each, but well worth it, all you can eat buffet, seafood galore, bliss!!!!

Overall, I recomend it if your with a group of mates, what a laugh!!

I have 2 tickets going spare for this Sundays sailing. I can get the name's changed over at no extra cost as due to the nature of my job I have contacts within DFDS. However, I do need to know today by 5pm if anyone wants them.
