I know you've missed this offer, but they have others on now, cheap to Amsterdam I believe - and from what I'm told it's even better.

I went on Sunday and it was great.

    I loved it.

OK so it's not the QE2 but then we saved over £1000 if you look at it that way.

It was comfortable, pleasant, we only paid for one dinner, which was very nice, we treated it as the little luxury of our summer holiday and didn't mind forking out £50 as a one off.

We also took one of those mini drinks fridges (cost about £10) and a travel adapter - don't forget it, it was great.

Thoroughly recommend it. If going to Norway don't go for the destination (we were delayed and only had 45mins) go for the experience, and you wont be disappointed.:money:

We didn't get cash or a bar that takes credit cards - though I strongly suspect they existed - anyone else. There were hotels about with Visa signs, with bars, but as we didn't actually try I wouldn't like to guarantee that the visa applied to the bar and not just to the rooms. We just weren't looking for one, plus there isn't really a great deal of time, we just went for a little explore.

As for cold - we got there and it rained pretty heavily, still I didn't find it particularly cold. Probably 16-18 degrees I'd guess, not exactly sunbathing weather granted, but pleasant enough to not wear a coat - but I wore a sweatshirt and carried and umbrella.

I do believe there is an ATM on board. The ship takes sterling as well as NOK.
The temperature is normally around the same as here in the summer months, sometimes a little cooler.

Hi everyone. We have just returned from the freebie from Port of Tyne to Stavanger. Here is a mini report for anyone who is interested.

Hi everyone. We did this trip and returned today and it was fine. We drove past the entrance to the port and carried on down the road to where there is a new housing estate (not on the maps). We parked for free on the street and nipped straight into the passenger entrance via a little entrance right by the roadside, so that saved us parking at £8 per day.

The boat left and returned on time and we got about 100 mins in Stavanger. The cabins were clean and tidy and the staff were generally very polite and friendly - mainly norwegan but some English and all the Norwegans had excellent English Language skills.

We booked breakfast and dinner and took our own travel kettle and for for lunch and snacks and late night drinks etc. The breakfast is superb - well worth getting as there is an abundance of food - hot and cold - and stuff to take for lunch if you need to. Dont touch the dinner buffet of you are a veggie as there is nothing to eat - and I really mean nothing and if you are not keep on fish then avoid it. Apart from that we had a good time.

There isn't heaps to do but we went to the cinema both days, played scrabble and read etc. and although the first night was a very bad crossing leaving us feeling pretty awful in the morning the second was better and we slept like logs. Any questions please ask.
