    Hi :hello: Lois

Well have just weighed in after my first long week (9 days to bring me in line with the Aug / Sept challenges) and I am down 3.5lb. Happy enough I gues although could have hoped for more on a first week, especially a long one:smiley:
Still I know where my culprits have lain:o and did not really deserve more if being totally honest.

The 'walking to work' looking unlikely as DD feeling unwell so may have to be off today. Darn

Well onwards and upwards. The September challenge starts now!
    Good luck everybody

Loved the photos, you are all so brave to put them on here but you all look absolutely fantastic, what a difference a few months make, eh? Bindi - Are you still doing cambridge diet?

Well, have really cut down, didnt rejoin SW, preferring to save the money although if things dont go according to plan I may consider going back - I will have to change groups though as I am starting an accounting course on the evening that SW is on. I have been out running again (under the cover of darkness) and am finding it easier each time I go. DH has to work late tonight so I will see if I can pluck up the courage to go alone. Apart from the lack of confidence I do need him to encourage me and to give me the push I need. I weighed myself this morning and dont appear to have lost any weight. Cant really understand as I have really been trying - oh well, must try harder. Its a maintain for me this week :(

Well done to all the losers, and Kyle - 37 days to Orlando - I'm green with envy :rotfl:

    Welcome back Suggs

Good Morning Pretty Peeps, Hunky Peeps andthe rest of us :D

Some good losses again for Lois to log...Well done beanie :j Kyle :j Feisty Fairy :j and katyk :j very impressed with your step count of 21,409  katy, I checked mine with my mini-stepper and it's accurate, I just think it's sensitive though to any movement, so as long as I use the same one and see how things go, at least it'll give me some idea. I was going to give you my average count so far but I can't find my Saturday figure  never mind, I'll take it from Sunday to Saturday and give it then. I'm quite impressed with it all...

...Suggs I think you'll find that it was this post that made ajax a quivering wreck, where is he by the way  ...

...Hi Honey  Well done on (edit) NOT joining SW :T

    ...Mumbai ...Orlando  I wish!!!

    xxxx
I wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latter :p but my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

For those that posted pictures... well done... I think its great to see them, as its an inspiration for others (and yourselves). Definately braver than me to post the pictures.

Ajax - Some loss is better than none. This month I have lost 0lbs.! Pretty annoyed about that but next week is a new start. Going camping this weekend so that could either be pigging out or lots of running around.

On clearing out a cupboard I found my pedeometer... the one I got when Fat Nation challenge was on BBC... and have worn it every day. I have to say that I am embarrassed by how little I do... This is my recording so far - On Sunday from 1pm = 948, Monday = 1909, Tuesday = 2596. So quite a way from the recommended 10k. However, ds is back at playgroup next week so will be out walking a bit more so hope to see an improvement at least.

    Hi Honey

Please don't be disheartened by your maintain, my guess is that you are increasing your muscle mass from the running, which weighs heavier than fat. This is a good thing though as more muscle helps you burn more fat so keep going and I'm sure you'll start to see it come off.:T

As for the motivation to get out there on your own, you can do it gal! You don't need hubby to encourage you, you can do it yourself! Once you're out the door, if you need motivation to keep going then you could do a few things:

    - follow the same route you take with DH and whenever you feel like giving up (I'm assuming that's why you need him?) then imagine he is there encouraging you to keep going, saying the same things he said before.

    - plan a new route that is YOUR route, the one you do when DH can't make it. Give yourself little goals on the way round to keep you motivated e.g. I'll just get to that lamppost and then I'll walk to the next one and then run again.

Don't be horrified by the idea of walking - this is NOT giving up, in fact it's the way lots of people train to run marathons. It's actually more effective, especially for weight loss, as you will be able to go for a longer distance and even though you'll be walking for some of the time, your heartrate will stay elevated throughout. Great eh? Then as you build up your running stamina, you can gradually run a little further before you walk and walk a little less til you can run the whole route!

Varying the pace like this (run-walk or jog with bursts of faster running) also helps burn calories more effectively so something else you might like to try.

As for not seeing a difference on the scales, I've been meaning to mention for a while that I also measure myself. Scary I know, but that way it gives you another set of stats to reach targets in more frequently. I wouldn't advise actually setting targets for this e.g. I'll lose an inch off my waist this week, but as you measure and you can see the inches disappearing it really does give you a boost!

I measure quite a few areas (from my sportiness) but general areas to measure are chest/waist/hips/bum I reckon. I also do my biceps, quads and calves (where fat has 'replaced' my muscle!) but that's probably a bit much!

Hope you can get out for that run tonight Honey - I'll be there with you in spirit encouraging you round! xx

All the above advice appplies to the walkers too of course, varying speed etc can really help.

JKHE, don't worry about how little it is now, just work on improving by a little each day. At least you know what your level of activity is now and have something to work with. Good luck!

Hi Bails, thanks for all those tips, they are great. You have made me so determined to go myself tonight and make DH even more proud of me when I tell him that I have done it. He brought me home a "learn to run" plan that one of the personal trainers in his work gym gave him for me. I have been running a min, walking a min as they also recommend this as the best way to start/burn calories. I am now up to run 2mins, walk a min although towards the end I do struggle but as you say I set myself little targets, like I am going to run to the next lamp post then when I get to it push on a little more. Thanks for the advice, when I am struggling tonight for the final bit I will think of you being there with me in cyber world. Thanks again :T
