By the way, you can get a 50p voucher off WW ready meals and desserts on pigsback.com if that's any use to anyone? Valid until 30th Sept. If you like, I can print off my ones (not sure if you can only get one per person?) and send them to anyone who wants them? I can get 3 or 4 at least (cos I'm sneaky and have several accounts, shh!). Just PM me if you'd like one and I'll get on the case when I'm back xThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Ha ha, loving the guillotine delly, v appropriate!!
I think your advice about the 10,000 steps is spot on too - always find your baseline and then try to improve on it. You wouldn't suddenly try and run a marathon if you only usually ran a mile, so the same goes for the steps. Gradually does it, I'd say. General advice is to up your exercise by no more than 10% a week so if you already walk 3000 steps, try for 3300 etc.
Good luck to all those on the Steps challenge, it really does make a difference, you'd be surprised! The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

No delly, funnily enough men are people too and if she handled it badly, he heard it badly.
It may have been some motivation technique as men are shown in research to be more reluctant to start a diet but much more likely to see it through, and she was giving him fire-in-the-belly motivation. Wouldn't be my style though I gotta say....

Which reminds me - I'd love to get some more smilies on the go, can anyone tell me how to find some? My OH was well impressed with the one hammering the computer, lol!
bails - I googled smilies and got a few links. Petrichor recommended this site. I've also got some from smilietown and sweetim . Just be careful because as Petrichor warned me, sometimes some nasties can follow along, so avoid smilie central.
By the way Petrichor -glad I'm a superpeep now.cos otherwise I might have had to do something drastic..

Well I didn't really mean it to sound nasty ajax or that his feelings weren't hurt initially, what I did mean was that maybe on reflection waaskint's oh knew deep down how much weight he needed to lose and wasn't annoyed at all - the only way to find out was to ask! I dont think anyone is happy to acknowledge that they need to lose 5 stone (or more) for that matter, but every single person who needs to lose weight usually knows how much weight they need to lose!
As you say, it may have been a motivational technique, but I doubt it. She was probably just thinking "next" - not a judgement on her abilities as a leader but let's face it, most slimming meetings have only got a certain amount of time to weigh in before the leader has to start the talk!
Personally, I'm not too fussed on the ww leader at the meeting I'm going to. She's been telling the same stories and using the same techniques for the past 20 odd years - but it's not for her that I'm going to WW, it's for me!Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -

xI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
thank you everyone, reading it back to myself i dont think its as bad as i first thought
but ive been to ww a few times and even this time she told me to keep my aim low so as not to get disheartened so couldn't understand why she wouldn't do the same for him especially as he has just over 3 1/2 stone more to lose than me
i didn't talk to him about wether it made him not want to carry on or not as i dont want to rock the boat - we have spoken about how it all works and he's getting me to help him with his points etc but it took a massive amount of courage to go and even now its not something he wants to talk about other than the practical side of actually doing it
JHKE that dinner sounds delicous and is one of my favourites (minus the bacon)... i suppose it all depends on how much you actually ate of it as to how good it is?? not sure really. was it white pasta?0 -

... now that's just plain blimming inconsistency. THAT drives me mad!!we_are_always_skint wrote: »i didn't talk to him about wether it made him not want to carry on or not as i dont want to rock the boat - we have spoken about how it all works and he's getting me to help him with his points etc but it took a massive amount of courage to go and even now its not something he wants to talk about other than the practical side of actually doing it
....waaskint, please encourage him to keep it up. You know how his mind works best, whether he best responds to an iron fist or a helping hand. What is indisputable though is that he will have a much better quality of life if he loses some or all of his weight, and so will you. Do you have kids (sorry, so tough to keep up)? If you do, think of the difference it would make to them.
If he doesn't want to go back, maybe you could be his consultant, turn it into a game- treat him like a dog, give him little rewards for milestones.... I'll leave it there :rotfl:
Maybe you could suggest that he reads the fantastically inspirational post which Suggs holds in his signature? That's written for men by a man.0 -
