Morning All
Nice to see everyone is still being really supportive and helpful on here. You really are such a nice bunch. I think the fact that epople even log on from abroad while on holiday says a lot....Been quite rubbish this week myself, too much wine (again)
... Quelle surprise! Tallgirl :eek::rotfl: ...
...this French malarky is certainly catching ..Oui?...Non?...
...Well done kyle:j and casper :j ...Never mind beanie at least you had a good weekend. My Dr gave me some new tablets and one of the side effects is weight gain  but I've decided to prove that it's wrong in my case, we'll see how it goes...
...poohbear Sorry to see that you've maintained but well done for being so positive about it:T . The smaller plates will certainly help, I use small pasta bowls and gratin dishes a lot because you can't overfill them without making a messand the meal planning is excellent too, I've found it to be a real boon which reminds me...
... I didn't post it on Mondaynever mind too late now but it's basically a pick and mix out of the previous weeks', it's the goat's cheese dish tonight...

..... oh I'm sorry I didn't mean it. I feel really bad now
Why is it that the easiest things to cook are the best? With a preparation time of less than two minutes I chopped two onions, two peppers, two scotch bonnets and threw them in the slow cooker. Throw in a bag of quorn pieces, empty out a tin of tomatoes and a tin of spinach and throw in a bit of curry powder. Finally, empty what's left of the packet of frozen vegetables into it. Absolutely delicious!!0 -
[quote=poohbear59;6021778] Yesterdays' newspapers with discussion about waist measurements got both me and DD worried. We are going to do this weight loss thing together and try to stop eating same amount of food as DH and 3 x DSs. We are going to put £1 in a pot for each lb we lose and then have a girly day out at a spa. We are on a very tight budget so we are meal planning for the whole family for the month. Yesterday we bought some smaller plates from the charity shop. Our usual dinner plates are HUGE!
Great post Poohbear. Meal planning is such a help financially (cuts down on lots of waste), on time and energy. Using smaller plates is a great idea. I use a smaller one than my OH. I find it soooo easy to give myself the same portion as him. Especially when it's food I like. With DD as you alli (brain gone, can't think how to spell that) at home, I really believe you are going to crack this one.
Ooh, beanielou, do we sharea birthday by any chance? Mines on the 30th.

My new medication makes me very hungry which is not good.Just had it changed by the hospital so not too sure about getting it changed again.
Beanielou: you have my sympathy re the medication - I have the same problem. I have put on 2 stone over the last couple of years on such medication: I can't fight that level of hunger. But be encouraged, that on SW (and it is the only thing that has worked for me, as it allows me to eat plenty) I have now lost 16lbs of that in 3 months and am now confident of losing the rest.
Hey Petrichor, bonjour, comment ca va? Despite being fully paid up members of the 'we're not having a holiday this year' club, we could almost be in France n'est pa?Just stringing some garlic round my neck. Now where's my blue and white stripy jumper...

I'm using the weigh in for extra motivation. I'm really not sure if I can do it so well on my own - after all I've been trying different things for the past month or more and seemed to be getting no-where. I joined WW with a friend last night and now I'm feelling totally competitive.
What do you guys think? Should I let my newly found competitive streak take over? Do you think I can sustain it?
I'm the same delly: the meetings are fairly dire and I learn nothing, but somehow, I need to go to maintain my motivation. (and that includes staying to the meeting - if I just went to be weighed I think I fairly soon wouldn't want to bother to trek across town for a 5 min weigh in. I get a lot out of the public sucess of the weigh in (don't be put off those who what to remain private - the actual weigh in can be as private as you like). And there is a small gang of us who get on and egg each other on who I like to see.
But for fun and support and ideas, this forum is brilliant :smileyhea .
As for being compeditive: if you feel it, go with it. Doesn't matter if you can't sustain it - use it for all it's worth while you've got it.
I've been negligent: welcome all you newbies. :T
Must get on with housy stuff now...
