I have never done SW and I did WW years ago before they introduced points. But Skint_Catt's loss this week has made me think! I wonder whether such a good loss is possible in week one of SW if you have already been on a different diet prior to that. Anyone have any experience of this?0 -

.....no experience here unfortunately, but I would be very surprised if you could go from plateauing on WW straight to SW (or vice versa) and have a big loss. Big losses usually come after indulgence, be it long- or short-term. I know anecdotally of people who have, and have failed miserably - I have strong doubts though that they were committed to either plan.
Despite believing that a big loss is not really plausible, I suspect there may be merits in chopping and changing plans as long as you stick properly to them for the time you are on them. After all, a change is as good as a rest etc. The respective SW/WW consultants will say that it wouldn't work, but to paraphrase Mandy Rice-Davies "They would, wouldn't they?"

Well I joined WW last night and have been studying my books and playing with ajaxgeezer's spreadsheet!! (Big thank you)
First 13 hours... so far so good..convinced my trousers are looser
A bit confused as I have been given a 10% target and not a 'get here and your life will be perfect target'!!0 -

... 10% seems to be a recurring milestone... and why not, it's a nice one. Slimming World's 'Club 10' is the same thing - when you lose 10% of your body weight, you get a voucher through the post for a free week at class.0 -
I hope you're feeling a bit better now teenipoor you! You weren't starving yourself before being weighed were you? I know some people do  ...
...Well done to all the lovely losers ajax:j , efrieze:j , LilMissEmmyLou:j and of course our mega loser Skint_Catt :T :T you'll be changing your name to Skinny_Catt soon...
...I agree with ajax about alternating slimming plans, I think that after a while you can get bored with the same plan week in week out, and perhaps subconciously become somewhat lax in following it as strictly you should. So if by following a different plan makes you refocus then all to the good, but unless you stick it it doesn't matter which one you choose because you'll not lose any weight. I also think that it's impossible to keep switching plans to get the initial big loss, unfortunately, otherwise we'd all lose our excess in a matter of weeks and the multi-million £ slimming industry would crash...

anyway... back to weight loss
I have one of those swiss exercise ball thingies and it has been deflated in the cupboard for way too many months (erm couple of years). The pump has broken and the only pumps we have are football ones - which of course don't fit
So I went to a well known large sports shop and asked, only to be told I have to buy a new exercise ball to get the pump with it. Can't be sold separately
So went in the large well known toy shop and got a pump for inflatable beds and paddling pools and hoping that fits - then there will be no excuseworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
