Those who label their children as thieves, would you report it?

So you would treat your child taking from your purse in exactly the same way as someone from the streets walking into your house and taking money from your purse?

One of my friends had quite young children. They had noticed money not being where they thought it should be but dismissed it. One day he was short of cash (they live rurally no cash points) and asked children if anyone had any they could borrow. The 2 year old said yes -dont worry she had lots of money- and led the to their 'collection' of money which was over £300. Age 21 she is now a wonderful girl and no dishonest habits.

I can't see the point in setting up a competition or pecking order between hypothetical thieves. A thief is someone who steals something, end of.

Anyway, I didn't want to throw another spanner in the works, but I'm wondering if the OP has a cleaner or someone else who comes to the house? If not then I guess it's got to be either the hubby or one of the daughters.

The OP hasn't mentioned that the 16 year old apparently has a mental age of 8.
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

In my opinion OP the biggest issue here is that you need the money.

Just talk to the girls and ask them. Tell them you know its missing, its wrong and you need the money to feed / clothe them. I personally wouldn't brand them as anything detrimental as it stops the opportunity for them to tell you if there is a problem.

All kids make mistakes and do some daft things. At least they can learn from it.

    Good luck x
