How to catch a thief in the house.

Over the last 8 weeks about £40 has gone missing out of my purse.
Today was the last straw as it was my last £2 before i get tax credits tomorrow. Both girls deny it is them, very much doubt it is oh.
Is there any tips on how to catch the culprit and best way of dealing with it.

In the short term, don't leave money lying around so it can be taken.
Have you got somewhere you can lock your cash away?0 -
I literally had about £3 70 in change and two pound has gone.
I stopped keeping notes in my purse when they went missing. I was getting paranoid, so started counting my money every morning and every evening, so knew it had gone.0 -
Have you tried keeping the money else where.
How about in your pocket?
It is not nice to have anything taken that belongs to yourself, so I hope you can get this sorted.0 -
How old are your girls?
Is it just you, the girls and your OH?It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

How old are the girls? You could either set up some kind of trap, or play sleuth and see what that £40 might have been spent on.0 -
It must be awful for you to live with a distrustful atmosphere in the house.
I would stop having cash in the house, and use a card at all times.
When you mention 'both girls' do you mean your daughters? Depending on their ages I would call a household meeting and ask them outright without accusing and watch their faces. If you have a nosey through their bedrooms, under beds and school bags might bring up something that money has been spent on
If this doesn't get anyone to own up, and again, dependant on their ages I would do such things as take away their front door keys if i couldnt trust themWith love, POSR0 -
There 16 and 19. Youngest dd doesnt go anywhere to spend money as shes disabled. They can only buy lunch at college which is done on a card system, no cash allowed.0

To be fair, it sounds unlikely it is the younger girl - sorry if this sounds accusatory, but it is what i would think if it were meWith love, POSR0 -
What about their friends? Do they visit?
One of my colleagues had a disabled child - who was regularly robbed and/or forced to give money to the bullies. He resorted to stealing for a while before he told on them.0 -
Your right exactly my thinking as well, dont think youngest would do it. Shes never on her own to spend any money.0
