Can I please join for June? Fallen off the saving wagon, not ran up any debts, but losing track of where my money goes and running out at the end of the month.

I haven't been on here for what seems like ages, I have been doing a uni course on surgical assisting and I handed my portfolio in today, it was taking up all my time and I'm glad its finished.

Bob - I had best not say what dinner for 9 of us cost last night at my 'wedding reception' (£272!!!) Wishus - that seems really low compared to mine for that amount of people - was the food lovely? I've got to admit we were discussing it on the way back and we had all decided to pay for what we had as some of us don't have much money. Ours was £40+ tip but the volume of food eaten and taken away was worth it - very good portions, and I took cash so didn't overspend.

I too know I'm not going to hit my NSD target this month but I've had more than I would have done without this challenge and I'll be joining in next month too and I think I can smash it :)

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time

Messy - I suppose it comes down to many factors. What part of the country a venue is in, whether alcohol is drunk, if it's a veggie meal or has meat. The most I've personally paid for dinner in the past is £150 for 2 at a Gordon Ramsey place in central London. It was nice but £££... I just wouldn't pay that now. I hope you really enjoyed yours.

    Hi All
    Late check in. Long day!

The Only Girl -think that meal sounds incredibly inexpensive. How do they do it??? Sorry your husband couldn't be with you. Mean boss..

£31 for 4 people for 3-course meal and drinks is expensive? That's £7.75 per head. The drinks by the way is bottomless.

We are up north, Tyne and Wear to be exact. They have branches of over the county but each branch is small, cozy and intimate. All of us were non-alcoholic drinkers so we had either lemonade or soft drinks (£1.50 for a regular sized drink or £3.50 for bottomless drink). For starters we had a choice of minestrone (a huge bowlful), or potato skins with salad and 2 dips. For mains it's either pasta or pizza. We had lasagne, cannelloni, arrabiata, carbonara and their special pasta sambuca and pizzas. For dessert it's either coffee or ice cream. My sister in law baked me chocolate cake and the restaurant let us serve it to our guest ( waiters loved the slices we gave them.). Being an MSE-forumite, I didn't pay £3.50 for the drink so I had my coffee instead of soft drinks and the cake for dessert.

In other branches, the 3-course meal offer is a lunch time deal, between 12 noon and 5pm or 6pm and is cheaper, priced at £3.95. In our favourite branch, by the sea in South Shields, it is an all day offer every day except Sunday up to 9:30 pm so it's a tad more expensive at £4.95 per 3-course meal. I think in other nationwide chain Italian restaurants, £4.95 just covers the starters (was it wishus's hubby who paid £6 for a mean bowl of soup?). A Big Mc meal is £5.49 I think and you're hungry again after an hour.

The important thing is, it was enjoyed by everyone!
