    Hello turtlets,

I am back from the land of zzzzz's. No more night shifts for a bit.

Congratulations Welsh kitty! The turtle world is so proud of you. Hip hip, hurrah!

Thanks Bob for your kind words, and wishus for your birthday wishes and your suggestions for the birthday celebration. Very good ideas. That would be nice, a Eurovision ironing party. Actually I have been thinking about this ironing malarkey. In line with MSE I am thinking of reducing the amount of ironing we do in our household. My hubby and kiddos are so fastidious, they wouldn't wear anything not ironed. My own fault really because I made them used to it. A few months back, I folded the clothes nicely after taking them out of the dryer, and put them away in the drawers and cabinets but two days later, I found them again the ironing basket. My husband said he doesn't want to wear them unironed because they were "itchy". He helps me with the laundry (it only involves sticking them in the washing machine and pushing a button), doesn't care about hanging them outside (too much for his hay fever) so sticks them into the dryer, and then dumps them all on the sofa until I can iron them (they are all creased up by then and would need x amount of electricity to de-crease them). After a week like this one, coming from night shift and finding the kitchen like a bombsite and the living room like the laundry room, I then need to tackle these on my days off, hence so little time to do deep cleaninG. Today I have come to a decision - i will reduce the amount of ironing! Definitely not house shirts and shorts and underwears and kitchen towels etc. If the hungry hippos can't stand it, they have to do the ironing themselves. We will save a lot of time, electricity and effort. Benefits all round. Excuse my rants, again!

Today is probably a NSD. I've been in bed all morning, only woke up when they son's chemistry tutor called in. Not planning on going anywhere so fingers crossed, unless my hubby decides to go to aldee after work, it will be a NSD. Made my kiddos lunch when I got in this morning and for after school snack, I made them cheese, tomato and spring onions quesadillas (used up the old, close-to-expiry tortilla wraps and grated cheese, spring onions from the garden and last 2 pieces of tomatoes in the fridge.). It's my first time to cook this and the kids loved it. I still have enough sunshine to wash 2 loads of laundry using free electricity from the solar panels and then tackle the "laundry room" aka living room. Dinner is probably pasta with pesto (I am going to attempt to make my own pesto sauce using the overgrown basil plant on the window sill.) wish me luck. I like trying new things but I am not much of a cook. It is sort of a hit-or-miss affair for me, cooking.

I'd better get on with it then. Have a nice evening, turtles.

Just a quick check in for me. Another NSD today but I'm feeling a bit low for some reason. I've been on a binge today, I'm struggling with being at work and feeling so utterly trapped. I enjoy my job but it took over my life some time ago. I really want to own my own business, selling small batches of imported cool stationery (I'm a bit of a paper freak).

But I am grateful for that job. I'm grateful for my beautiful dogs who give me the most exuberant greeting every day, however I feel. I'm grateful for my lovely DH who works so hard whether he has a job or not.

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time

Poor you Calling its horrible feeling so weary and still having to work/look after grand child. I think what you and other grandparents do for your kids looking after their kids is amazing. I thought of you this morning as there was a report about how many grandparents get left out in the cold post a family breakup. You all deserve a medal...

Declaring NSD 15/20 today the bank balance hasnt moved a penny in about 3 days now all the DDs have finished for this month. I feel I can take some pride in that as a lot of planning has gone into making that happen.

30p in tips to add to the wombling jar today.

Had a call from the posh food box people today, typically something like this 'hi bob its dave (er who, like are we best friends and I forgot??) we want to offer you £10 off your next box. Any good?' I then proceeded to explain why Im not interested. Love the quality, it is like having a restaurant level of meal at home etc, but for the cost £35 for 3 meals worth for 2 adults, its a no from me Dave. He did sound a little put out. Poor Dave.

    Off to soak.

    Bob

Evening turtles :) another NSD today, just petrol today. LTW and managed to get a workout in before work as well. MessyMare, your business idea sounds lovely, I like the idea of little batches as then they're "rare" :)
Feeling rubbish and low this week, just need it to be the weekend so I can see my friends and try to improve this funk that's hanging over me. Spending tonight watching telly with OH, just two more work days to go :D

I'm also a stationary lover, Messy mare. Brought back some awesome hand-made notebooks from Thailand last month.

Have gotten over the sickness bug but lack of vitamins (or any food!) has brought on a cold. Dah! Feeling so drained.

Lost an NSD today to a £1 bar of chocolate. What a waste. But it was salted caramel flavour!! Yummy. Shared it with a couple of colleagues.

Off to bed I think. Have a good eve, turtles.

Get well soon, samiszel. Your health has taken a bit of a beating, hasn't it? Hoping for your full and fast recovery. Good on you Bob for resisting the "charms" of Dave. Enjoy your moment with your OH academia.

Just want to report that my first attempt at making pesto sauce was a success. Was able to make enough for two dishes. One batch for the pasta dinner tonight and the other batch going in the fridge for a chicken dish on Friday. Huge thanks to the faithful basil plant that continues giving. I've been watering it everyday and didn't realise it nearly filled the whole window. Now it has been pruned back ready to give some more. A couple of seedlings waiting to be repotted too and I am thinking of sowing a few more. Which leads me to an idea that I have for my birthday. Instead of me receiving gifts I am thinking of giving my friends and family some plants that I will grow, eg herbs or vegetables. I feel that now that I am close to being debt free I feel blessed and I want to bless others too.

And as for the birthday dinner tomorrow, it has been decided that we are going out for a meal tomorrow night at our favourite Italian resto £4.95 per head for a 3 course meal. Dutch treat of course so I won't have to pay for everybody else. Tomorrow I am going to relax, tend to my garden in the morning, hairdresser's at noon, and chill out time in the afternoon.

Oh by the way my hubby surprised me by taking out the ironing board after coming home from work and started tackling the ironing! Miracles do happen! I am a happy turtle. :happyhear

    Evening all,

Hugs to all who are poorly, feeling low or grumpy.

Today was a spend day but also earnt doing tutoring. So desperate for the weekend and half term next week, just need some time to be lazy and do nothing. Lots of things still going round and round in my brain at the moment so need to just take some time out.

Happy birthday for tomorrow the only girl
