I currently have a heavily discounted package with SKY; Family, Movies and Multiscreen for £25 which is now going up, but is it still worth calling? I initially agreed to reactivate my boxes because the cost was under £25.
I have enough money to last me the rest of my life... unless I buy something.

I've just called Sky and been given an offer. I don't feel like it was enough so I've said that I need to speak to husband and will prob call back to say I am going to cancel.

Currently we are on the variety bundle with HD and broadband and sky talk (currently in contract until end of July for BB and phone). Monthly cost of all of this is about to go up to £55.15 and that's £39.15 just for TV as already getting BB free.

    I was offered;
A reduction in my package to the original bundle + HD
Reduction in line rental to £11.40
    Broadband for £2.50
Total of £46.65 for 10 months. I said it was too much and I am losing channels and he dropped to £41.65.

Have I just let a good deal get away? Any tactics for when I ring back tomorrow?

I've just refused an offer of £8 discount on my Sky + Sports + HD package. Was on chat for ages with him! Going up to £58 in June was offered at £50 for 10 months! I want a 50% deal!
  • Well having finally got through to the online chat, wasted goodness knows how long with Lynne she only offered me a £7 discount, so I am going to ring and go through to retentions now

Rang Sky about the price hike. I was extremely polite and after 45 minutes I was offered a 20% across the board reduction.Price down from £89 to £72. Result.

My package following the price rise is £34.50 for TV, phone and BB.

This is based on half price TV and free BB for 10 months.

I've got the complete Sky+ HD package with sports. movies, etc plus 2 boxes in 2 different rooms. Currently that is costing me £82-50 a month but has just been increased by £4-50 to £87 a month. I have had Sky since 2007 but I have Virgin for my broadband and TV which is another £38-77 for line rental plus unlimited landline calls and 20mb broadband. I telephoned Sky today and got my £87 reduced to £74 for the first 8 months of a new 12 month contract. I did take the first offer which was probably very silly but at least it's something!
  • Hiya,

Having been with Sky for over 12 years, I was told that my bill was going to increase by £4.50 per month. As I wasn't happy about this increase, I phoned them up and managed to get a discount of £6.41 per month off my line rental - £76.92 per year - RESULT!!

I didn't go in all "guns blazing" as it were, I remained calm and polite and ended up with a fab saving.

Try it - what have you got to lose??
  • I have just renewed my contact for the second year - got 10 month half price TV deal, which I was happy with, then they cut my broadband to half price for a year, which I didn't even ask for. Great
  • I rang to cancel my sky account told them I could no long afford any more price rises. They offered me 20% off my subscription for 8 months and my 3 multi rooms at half price for 10 months on a new 12 month contract - Thats about £30 a month saving.
