Keep the card not use it, but keep it for the extras e.g. Credit monitoringYes, but theres only really Aqua for 1/2% on non Amex purchases, the Santander is not viable yet as Im on 5% ATM for petrol & supermarket spend.
Don't forget the Barclays Visa 0.5% and Amex combo 1%After reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!

Put it through the shredder, they can have it back! Account CLOSED!but without much work we can ensure that we are earning Cashback/Rewards on our spending alongside whatever else we do to make money. that's what we're here for
That's great - me too.
I just don't think it's necessary to criticise others who don't consider it worthwhile.
I always "value" a transaction. (properly - not the "5 mins work" rubbish above).
For example I would not do a credit check and get a new card for just a £15 offer.
Personally I always work it out which seems sensible, so I would never criticise anyone else for making a decision that they've weighed up.
Why the need to do that? and judge others?
I agree we're all here to help each other not make snal (and often incorrect) judgments.0 -
fair enough. for the record you have quoted my text there, but i don't think you are actually suggesting i am criticising others..and if you are, then that certainly wasn't my intention.
i tend to think that getting the right deals & rates is a bit of fun, rather than work, but it's very much a matter of 'to each his own':A0 -
Just had my May statement with my cash back for the year so far paid up so that's it all gone now. Got a couple of items left to pay for next month then it's going me thinks (although I have a great £7.5K limit so not sure how long they will let me keep it without using is?). Have my Post Office card for overseas spending and have just got an M&S mastercard as I shop in there regularly so this seemed the best one for my needs (although don't know the limit yet until it arrives).0

Is this thread the one regarding Capital one cashback offer being removed for existing customers? The 0.5% cashback and £10 yearly reward for paying on time?0

Yes
On a side note, I called Barclays and they have upgraded my card to the Amex/Visa combo. 1% on Amex, 0.5% on Visa. Not expecting as much cashback as I received previously, but something it better than nothing.0 -

I think people should consider this and make a balanced decision.
If you want a name it was Xstyle who criticised someone for not taking a deal for "5 minutes" work and we know very well that credit checks, too much credit etc. can have devastating effects like stopping people getting mortgages.
I'm just providing the balance to that comment.0 -

Is this available to new Barclaycard customers ?
Thanks0 -
I apologise LissyLoo.
There wasn't enough justification or logical sense in your initial post not to want to earn cash back. Of course nobody needs to justify themselves here, I was just trying to highlight a benefit. I totally understand your viewpoint which makes perfect sense.
When I apply for a new card, which is very rare, I close an existing /dormant account down.
On a plus note, I've just been paid my £300 on the 0.5% Cap1 card for 6 months spend0
