Keep the card not use it, but keep it for the extras e.g. Credit monitoring
Just checked on line this morning and my annual fee of £18 was credited to my account on the 1st June - statement isn't due till the 25th but at least I've not had to chase the annual fee refund. Hopefully the cashback will be credited later.

No annual fee for me, but I keep checking the site anxiously just in case my due cashback appears...

Strange decision as for a 5 min application, you could be earning a few quid for free...

Plus a credit search, plus getting used to new on-line system, payments and phone system - so I think you're minimising the issues.

I called MBNA and it took 25 mins to get through at a weekend and they couldn't put me through to the correct dept and said I'd have to call during work hours. I decided I can't wait 25 mins + during my lunch hour so I ditched the MBNA card because their customer service is lacking for people who find it difficult to call during working hours.

I'm getting Amex and then using an existing Halifax Clarity.
None of the mastercard/visa offers tempt me "for a few quid".
I feel my time is better rewarded ebing concerned about property which is massively more than a "few quid".
I'm going to keep my Cap one until I'm satisfied with the new order. I've had Amex before and their on-line and phone systems are pretty good. Not sure Halifax is quite as good as cap one on-line, so need to see. I'm waiting a while until closing my capone.

So in summary - more issues than just a 5 minute application.

    That's very true.

I'm currently working through a list of continuous payment authorities and websites like Amazon, Tesco, PayPal where my Cap1 card was the preferred payment method. All to be re-arranged before I can safely ditch Cap1.

I opted for the Amex Platinum Cashback card, it arrived today. I also cancelled my order for an Apple Watch and reordered it using the new Amex card, I'll get almost £50 cashback on that alone.

My Amex arrived yesterday and already spent a few hundred on it in less than 12 hours. I'll do the £2,500 limit @ 5% within the month easily.

Lisyloo, yes property is where the money is at! Good luck.

i agree with Xstyle too, but without much work we can ensure that we are earning Cashback/Rewards on our spending alongside whatever else we do to make money. that's what we're here for:A
