I suspect that the customers remaining with 0.5% CB, will be the ones that occasionally use the card overseas and/or don't always pay their full balance every month. That way they are getting some revenue back for the 0.5%CB.
I am not in their eyes a good customer, and neither I guess are most on this forum, we make them very little. So why would they want you to stay ?
It doesn't really matter anyway, Amex and Barclays Combo, Cap1 are now surplus to requirements.
I still haven't rec'd any letter so am still getting tiered CB up to 1.25%. As I said a couple of months ago, either on this thread or one of the other CapOne ones, I occasionally put overseas spend on the card (expenses, so its work not me that picks up the FX charge - personal spend goes on fee free CC of course) so I'm sure that's the reason I've avoided the cull.
As it happens I don't actually use this card a great deal anyway, the majority of my CC spending goes on either slow stoozing or meeting spend targets on a variety of other CCs.0 -
Put it through the shredder, they can have it back! Account CLOSED!I have an American Express card (additional cardholder on my husbands account) which he doesn't pay a fee for. I am wondering, is there a limit on the cashback he gets? He uses it for everything unless they don't take AMEX then he uses his Cap 1 card. He was thinking of getting a Santander 123 CC as the fee is waived for the 1st year but you only get cashback in supermarkets/dept stores & travel. Most of these he uses his AMEX card for so I'm thinking he would be better off getting the Nationwide CC which pays 0.5% as he has a Flex Direct a/c with them. Unless of course there is a cashback limit with AMEX then maybe he would be better off with a Santander 123 CC.0

I asked them if my cashback was being removed and they said no. I'm on the 0.5% cashback. Have you been told otherwise?0

Few points to note about Santander 123 credit card:
- It doesn't pay cashback on absolutely everything. You get 0% if you don't spend in one of the three cashback categories of supermarkets, department stores and travel (train tickets or fuel). Thought I'd mention this as Cap1 was different in that it paid out a flat rate for all spend.
- You only get the first year free of an annual charge if you have a Santander 123 current account and pay the card out of that.0 -

i'm not alone, apparently. but no, no letter. and not a flat rate. AspireElite so a tiered rate.0 -
This post brought back memories for me
I had the Blue Amex back in 2004. I had just started my first job. It paid a flat 1% cashback (or was it 0.5%?). My current Platinum dates to back then and I also have the 'member since 04' on my card. My current Plat is also tiered to 1.5%.
I wonder if they will try and move us to the new one gradually...
it doesn't say that on my card.. and it seems, and i hope, not. as the deal we are on has been gone for years now. they seem [touches wood] to respect terms as agreed.0 -

Correct though cap 1 wasn't necessarily flat rate. My luma was the 4% on fuel and supermarkets one, so never used outside these areas.0 -
Had last Cap1 cashback already paid on two cards, it should show on statements dated 01-06-2015 onwards.0

I haven't received any info about changes from them. The only letter I've had with regard to the new regs was from Amex saying that in order to keep cashback and offers they were increasing the interest rate. Which doesn't impact on me anyway as I pay off in full each month.
I've been wondering. Does the cap on fees mean that more places will start accepting Amex anyway? I noticed that the post office now accepts Amex at the desk.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)
Savings target June 18 - £22,281.99 / £25,0000 -
Keep the card not use it, but keep it for the extras e.g. Credit monitoring

Doubt it, the interchange rates on Amex haven't changed so it costs even more to accept Amex. I believe that Amex will be subject to changes but not for the next couple of years, so another cull of cashback rates then. After reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!
