The thing is that a lot of us have 'allowed spends' and/or count days as nsds if we stay within budget. You don't have to count every spend, unless you want to,of course.
The great thing about this challenge (no Cheffie,it's not the world class cuisine) is that you make your own rules to suit you.
My own personal rule book changes a lot,but that's allowed too!
I have many allowed spends:
going swimming - yearly subscription,so allowed.
prescriptions - essential,so allowed.
all bills - essential,so allowed.
bus and train travel - I have a travelcard plus essential,so allowed.
budgeted spends for groceries,toiletries,catfood etc.
I have a weekly budget for groceries and a monthly budget for most other things.
I suppose that my main reason for doing the challenge is that I'm a dreadful impulse buyer, and doing the challenge does help me stay on the straight and narrow.
ps does anyone actually count every spend?
Thanks for the advice!
I won't be counting direct debits as a spend, but plan to include everything else. Reckon, if I'm savvy enough, I'll be able to do a food shop and get petrol on the same day each week, reducing my spend days right there
I think the thing that gets me is the whole "oh, I'll just nip to the shop to grab x" and then £10+ later, I've spent needlessly and could just have easily settled for the ready salted crisps I had at home rather than convincing myself that I HAD to have cheese & onion. Guess I'm quite bad with impulse buying too.
Tallying up my NSDs and having that as something to aim for will, hopefully, convince me that I don't need to pop to the shop as often as I do. Having that extra NSD under my belt would definitely be more satisfying than having an empty purseJanuary Food Budget: £0/ £500

You missed one super important date from your list, 12th May, mine and Florence Nightingales birthday, which as she was an awesome Nurse is International Nurse Day as well (I am also a nurse, weird huh?!)!
As this is my aforementioned birthday month and we are heading off traveling all the way to Brighton I am going for 16NSDs this month (its my lucky number!).

Apologies for not replying sooner.
So often I have managed to resist a buy so as to nab an nsd.Nsd catching can become as addictive as spending used to be.
Have you tried making a shopping list and sticking to it?Going out without money,so that you can't be tempted?Having a weekly grocery budget,so that your budget is more spread out over the month?scotmumof3 wrote: »WOO HOO !!! EUROVISION !!!:j

I've found my cool purple and silver hotpants 'cept I can't quite get the zip up.Do you think that Knit Witch will knit me another pair if I ask nicely?
Now,if anyone's seen a pair of silver sparkly platform boots - they're mine! You missed one super important date from your list, 12th May, mine and Florence Nightingales birthday, which as she was an awesome Nurse is International Nurse Day as well (I am also a nurse, weird huh?!)!

How shocking that I forgot, considering that I am also a nurse.
The front page has been suitably amended.
PS why Brighton in particular?Just curious.
Igor wants to know what kind of birthday cake you like, bless him.He likes to do his cakes a few weeks in advance to let them 'mature' :eek:0 -
