council home

If you earn now 16k and you are single and let's say you are given a council flat. Then after a couple of years you earn 30k, will they drop you out?

No why would they? That's if a single person who isn't a vulnerable/disabled person were given a council flat.

Once a person has a council house I think they can stay as long as they want assuming they behave themselves. I know there was a big fuss a couple of years ago about a union boss earning mega-money and living in a council house. If he could stay I don't see why somebody on 30k couldn't.

Bit of a crap system if people are in them when they don't need to be and earn more than most people who are struggling to pay rent, but if the rules allow it you can hardly blame people for taking advantage.

I thought you were buying a top-floor flat? Or is it simply that you are bored?

guys can I apply for council home outside the borough I am currently living?

I read that "In some areas there's more housing available and you may get an offer of council housing quite quickly. But in other areas you may have to wait for years."
How can I find out which areas are that?

Yes, although you will be lower on the list than a resident of that borough, I believe.

Plus, if you are considered already adequately housed, it can take yeeeeeeears to get a home.
  • Actually, some councils require you have a connection to that borough.

With regarding how to find out, get googling and look at eligibility criteria etc for the council(s) you want.

Yes, but other people research the possibilities. All you seem to do is post on here and expect others to do your research for you!
