No not really - he doesn't like to talk about it so any explanation he gives me is as short as possible and rubbish to begin with!

He should have a very good idea of what I do though.

Yes, DH drives HGVs and he loves his work so he talks about it quite a lot.
I'm a graduate engineer so he knows what rotation I'm in and a bit about what I'm learning. I dont tend to talk about my work, unless there has been some drama in the office!

Forget about your partners job, some people don't even know what their OWN job entails.

I can't believe that anyone could possibly NOT know what their spouse/partner does for a living! Surely it's such a big part of their life?

It depends what you consider the original question to be I think - "what does your spouse do for a living" - my OH would answer "works in an office" and he'd be right.

If the question is instead, "could you describe your partner's job" - nope, he wouldn't have a clue about most of what I actually do in the office.

I think it's fascinating reading all the different views on the subject. I too couldn't imagine not knowing, nor could VSG (my OH), but that could be because we work in the same field, albeit in slightly different sectors of that field.

Some people on the other hand, seem perplexed that anyone would want to know what their partner does. People and their relationships are so different!

I don't think my OH knows what I earn--I manage our money so I know his salary, but he is not remotely interested in our finances (I do keep him up to date with the basics of our net income and expenses).

I'm with you, it does strange to me that you live with someone and share your life that what you do for what is often the main part of your day is a mystery. I have always know exactly what my husband does as did he when I worked. :o
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -
