Could you describe your partner's job?

My husband works in the waste industry, but is highly specialised and a high level manager. My late grandma (bless her!) was talking to my Mum one day and was saying how much she liked my husband, but that it was a shame he was a bin man. How many bin men have a BMW as a company car! I don't think she ever got it.
This made me think of MIL talking about the husband of one of her granddaughter's who worked as an IT consultant in the City. He mainly worked weekends for obvious reasons and she said I wish he could get a proper full time Monday to Friday job. She didn't believe us when we said he was probably earning more a day than we earned in a week.0 -
Yep, I know what DH does. He likes to tell me all about it too, which can get very boring.0

Yup. He ties knots and drinks shots. :-D
I know how long he has been in the job, the ships he's served on and most of his main responsibilities. Also, his pay grade, employee number and who his boss is.
In return, my husband would say that he knows mine to. He would describe me as radar and mouth equipped sat Nav of the sky!#KiamaHouse0 -
I'm surprised people don't know what their other halves do. Do you not talk to each other when you come home from work?
My husband is a Racing Mechanic. I like to support him by going to watch them race with some girlie mates. Most girls go shopping, we go racing.

I find it astounding how many people do not know what their partners do, as someone else asked, do you not speak to each other at home?
I understand sometimes a job can be a bit mundane but surely there's always a story to tell? so for example a postman must have read something funny on a envelope or a courier must have a story of a mis-delivery or something.0 -

Yes. He's a Lab Technician in a Sixth Form Centre.
My BFF's job is best described as "doing a Chandler" though (she's a Finance Systems Analyst, and I actually know - and understand - what she does). We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

And that is fine. My job is not very entertaining either but that's still no reason to not know what your partner does for a living.
I find it more astounding that people don't ask their partners either.0 -
With difficulty. It's always a convoluted answer which annoys me. He has it so much easier as he only has to say one word!Current debt: M&S £0(£2K) , Tesco £0 (£1.5K), Car loan 6K (paid off!) Barclaycard £1.5K (interest free for 18 months)0
