Ok, it's not as exotic as most of yours but ...

Having had a superb time in the Dorchester area last June (Bronze Age barrows, South Dorset ridgeway 9 mile walk etc),

I'm now booked for a week at end of June at a favourite cottage south of Sherborne, Dorset, this time with a friend, for more such walking.
Plus friends coming over to visit me there from elsewhere.
Plus a 70th birthday party near Honiton the second weekend, so it all fits...

Counting down from 18 days, not long now ... Hooray!

Looking at a trip to another favourite place, Maro near Nerja, Spain in the autumn, with a young neighbour who's been learning Spanish with me.

No date / year for the trans-America train trip yet. Friends/acquaintances to visit in Boston, Chicago, Montana and Seattle. Hopefully over 8-10 weeks .... sometime .....

    Enjoy you trips!

We had 3 weeks on AI in Malta in February, based in Mellieha close to the Gozo Ferry. We loved Malta, although the AI was a bit too indulgent for me. We're going back at the end of October for a month, staying in a nice hotel in Bugibba, but only on B&B.

Don't know about our next long haul. But it'll be back to SE Asia, probably a couple of weeks in North Vietnam, top and tailed with a few days in Thailand [Kanchanaburi] or Cambodia [Phnom Penh area].

I've been looking at Malta too as Mr Duke doesn't want to do long haul, otherwise I was planning Cambodia &/or Vietnam next too. But I could end up anywhere if the price is right.

Hi Tuesday, Staycations can be awesome! I've seen some of my friends posting pix from their staycation to Tenby Beach and it looked FAB! I guess the trick is to get to the local places when the weather is good.

Sounds like you have a few lovely trips planned. I wish people would share more pix, I do love to see holiday pix!

8-10 Weeks, are you retired? I'm jealous!

Arrived back from Miami this morning. We stuck to our guns and did NOTHING, ZERO, ZILCH and it was ooohhhhh so worth it.

We would start of every morning at around 7/8am, and spend the day by the pool, dipping in and out, reading, eating lovely fresh food, and just people watching, and relaxing. In the evenings we would venture out to dinner but the american portions are just way too big for us. But all in all I had a Brilliant time just doing nothing but lying in the sun and relaxing. I feel another trip coming up in Oct!

I'm actually looking forward to going back to work, that is a first for me!

58 Days until our USA East Coast to West Coast (minus Miami)

Really looking forward to Malta in a month's time (it will be your fault if I don't for suggesting it!) but I didn't see the point in going AI as I intend getting out of the hotel to explore.

I would love to do the south of Vietnam later this year after doing the north in 2014 but I don't know if work commitments will allow it.

There was a bus stop right outside the hotel...

I booked with Chevron and got a v.good deal.

As soon as breakfast [started @ 0700] was out of the way we were out exploring...

Made up a couple of cheese/ham rolls if we planned to be out for lunch.

But like I mentioned earlier in the thread, amongst other things I find AI too indulgent, which is why we've gone down the B&B route at the end of October.

I'm sure Malta will tick a lot of boxes.:)

I've only ever managed about half an hour round the pool MP, I always want to go & look over there or up there. Although I rather enjoy a beer on the balcony for a few hours, along with a book & Wi-Fi. I sit still to eat too :D
