SSE broadband feedback

I called SSE to find out more about their packages. After 12 minutes on hold I gave up.:(0

I phoned for a little info a couple of weeks back. I asked about caller display because Sky provide that for free and the man told me that it was free. However it does not look like that was correct!
The only reason to consider SSE is the "possible" use of override providers access codes for low cost calls which Sky do not allow, instead a long freephone number is needed and higher cost calls.0 -
18185 works fine with my recently installed SSE line. I fear that if too many people phone up customer service asking if overide providers work they just might put a stop to them.0

I called to order on Tuesday.
On Wednesday I got an email to start the online account activation process - which requires a PIN by post.
Today received welcome pack with a letter telling me I'd get another within 2 weeks with service start dates - phone and broadband start dates will be separate.
My 2 years free broadband will start the date my broadband supply is transferred.
They do say I need to phone with a MAC code - this is clearly not correct now, and I was told definitely not required when I phoned.
My phone contract is for 12 months.
My broadband contract is for 18 months.
Mentions a £30 connection charge for Broadband - I am sure I was told that this was free. Very sure. I will call back tomorrow.0 -
My phone been running for 1 week. Broadband due in 1 week.
Gave my MAC code today. Called BT today for it, the girl told me Mac codes will not be needed after the 20th of this month.
Hope all goes well with the broadband switch. If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you! :dance:0 -
I was told by SSE that I failed my credit check, & was suggested to get my credit report from Experian. But despite doing so & having an excellent credit score, I still was refused broadband with them! I was told that I most likely failed their credit checks because I'm under 30, have no mortgate & have just moved! Which is ridiculous, as my credit score is very high, & I cannot do anything about my age. Surely that excludes a lot of potential customers... I decided to go with Sky in the end; line activated 6 days after sign up & no hassle

Got Broadband switched on a week after phone installed. Very pleased with it. Although I'm getting speeds of 4mb/s compared to 30mb/s with virgin media but I cannot tell the difference with basic web browsing as pages still load very fast. If I was downloading films or music then yes there would be a big difference but I don't do those. Think the timescale to get connected with SSE is about 6 to 8 weeks in reality.0

I have been ringing SSE daily for 2 weeks to get my mum connected for broadband. She has SSE landline already. Nobody picks up......
Can anybody tell me a good time to ring?0 -
I got an email from BT today saying sorry to lose you etc and warning about cancellation charges etc. Also said I would be charged £13.50 per month, rising to £19.99 on 1st August.
So I have phoned BT and cancelled the Sport service - did not realise this had to be cancelled separately from BB - thought it was tied into Broadband.
Just for others to be aware.0 -
Personally, I find their £3.25 per month charge for Caller Display absolutely shocking. See here:
https://www.sse.co.uk/uploadedFiles/CoreMarketingSites/Assets/Documents/Talk%202014%20Price%20table.pdf
'£3.25 per feature per month or 4 features for £6.75 per month for any of the following features: Call Barring, Caller Display, Call Diversion, Ringback, Call Waiting, 3-way Calling, Call Sign and Call Reminder.'
I'm sorry, but I just don't see Caller Display as a call feature. This is a feature that exists on my phone handset; not something that they take care of!
Furthermore, why is there no mention of a privacy service that automatically hides your number when you dial out? Is that something that does exist and has to be paid for? They don't even mention the monthly cost of their basic 1571 answer phone service either. I am assuming that they do offer one and it also has to be paid for? This information really should be on their pricing table. It might end up being £7 per month for Caller Display, Outgoing Calls Privacy and Basic 1571. If anyone knows, then I would be very grateful to hear the answers. I think I am paying BT something like £1.75 per month for all 3 right now, so I don't think so, not for me anyway... :rotfl:0
