Once you've proved the problem exists - which is not entirely straightforward because they will only accept the results from http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/.
And those results almost invariably show no problem. SSE deny that it's possible to whitelist http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ but they do, if you push them, accept that there's a problem which they're trying to resolve.0 -
They accept other speed test results, i know as im in the process of leaving penalty free, i used these below, take them first thing in morning then in evening, they soon build up a very nice graph that clearly shows the problem which you can send them

Do not go anywhere near SSE fibre broadband, it's obviously the cheapest on the market for a reason , 76mgbts in the morning, after 5pm down to 5-8mgbts. Unable to contact customer services, refuse to return calls. Abysmal survice, stay well away. It is now my new hobby to inform the social media world of this obvious con0

If I go down the route of escalating the problem, what would be my response when they inevitably blame it on traffic congestion/BT & the exchange?
They don't like to accept other tests, but they will eventually. I bombard my contact with a couple of emails a day with my results from other sites.
I really don't know where people get the idea of whitelisting of sites though. The difference with the BT test, as with some others, is that they use multi thread testing which hides the problem. Even my Samknows box doesn't record the drops, because there is no Ofcom requirement to do so apparently.

Had SSE for a few weeks now (moved from BT) and so far so good - if anything it's faster than BT even at peak times. I've had no trouble downloading large files or streaming 4K video, with no buffering. My speed tests on the various sites have ranged from around 45-69 and that's using wifi on my laptop so not optimum conditions.
My only complaint is that the router is ridiculously big and ugly!0 -
I concur with zappomatic.
I've had the service for about a month now, and not a problem.
Fast download, and blindingly fast upload speeds at all times.
I was with Virgin Media previously on their 150meg offering, and don't notice any slowdown on anything I do with the new SSE service, but a lot cheaper.
The router is ugly, but it lives under the sofa anyway.0 -
Slow speeds last night, so used the BT Wholesale speed test, as required by SSE.
Tap1 and Tap2 showed well below 15mpps dl - and Tap3 produced an even lower figure.
Am I right in saying that the Tap3 result will mean that SSE will blame the BT network rather than themselves and Daisy for the problem?
Odd that this has never been a problem with any other ISP.0 -
I have just had a engineer in who has said there are no issues with the line, so looks like I should be able to leave in the near future.0
