As I previously posted I was due to switch to SSE but given all the terrible reports I was reading I ended up cancelling and staying with TalkTalk (don't laugh) and took up an offer of Fibre Large, free for 12 months and free connection.

It was switched on as planned on Monday and it's been excellent. I was given a download range of 32.4Mb and 60.7Mb and it's been rock solid steady at around 57Mb using a range of Speedtest sites, the upload is between 19-20Mb.

I'd never had any issues with the ADSL service which was always around 13Mb but a measly 1Mb upload. TalkTalk CS over time have been a different matter and at times have been difficult to deal with but this order for Fibre went through smoothly and everything seem OK :)

Can anyone on here give me some advice?

Im in a right mess with SSE!

I sigoned up for Fibre with them and was supposed to go live on June 10th. It didnt happen, we have now been without any kind of broadband for going on 5 weeks.

Basically BT systems told me and SEE i could have Fibre after 3 engineer visits it turns out i cant ;(
The pole on our street is number 470 and goes to the cabinet nearby but the first 2 BT engineers failed to see the pole isnt 470, its actually 360 and doesnt go to the cabinet as stated. So after weeks of getting really poor service from SSE, no ring backs when they said they would, being told one thing from one SSE advisor and then being told something completely from another im still without anything.

They are now saying ive got to wait for my Fibre contract to end and be removed from their systems before i can be put back onto a normal ADSL broadband contact but everyday i ring up theres another excuse as to why it still wont happen!! To say im angry is an understatement.

I dont seem to be able to speak to any kind of manager and the advisors are useless.

The only thing stopping me from cancelling is that i would have to wait another 4 weeks for another ISP provider to take back the line and then send me a router.

What im after really is a email for the Head of Customer services or somebody high up so i can lodge on official complaint. That hopefully will get things moving faster??

I would say to anyone thinking of joining these muppets to avoid like the plague, they are beyond useless and i think they have had that many people sign up to the £21 deal they cant cope ;(

Any advice will be greatly received

    Thanks in advance

I applied around to join around 20th June as it seemed a terrific offer. I was coming out of my contract with TalkTalk, as I had nothing but problems with their service, and SSE seemed to have a great deal. Today is 10th July, and TalkTalk say they haven't heard from SSE yet to confirm any change-over. I had just opted to get out of an 18 month contract with TalkTalk within their 20 day cool off period - as I had nothing but trouble from them, yet I fear that I may end up paying a great deal to TalkTalk if SSE dont get in touch with them in the next day or two. I have already had their welcome pack (about 10 days ago), but they apparently rely on a contractor to handle the transfers between providers, and this has not yet been done. Getting through to SSE takes ages as their phone lines are forever busy. I hope they sort out the transfer soon - otherwise I may have to fork out money to TalkTalk for a service I do not want..!!!!

Thanks for this info, i finally ended up with a go live date of this Thursday. It needed me to be put through to escalations last friday but at least i should be back online.

If they dont do it then ill be defiantly email them using this email address so cheers.

I had even considered emailing them anyway to put forward my complaint and how much ive been messed about for 5 weeks with no internet, the customer service is terrible!!

No issues for me so far-signed up to the £21pm offer and all set up yesterday with visit from engineer for new fibre socket-very happy so far and no issues with use of amazon fire box last evening. Was paying £28 pm with sky for line and evening and weekend calls for standard unlimited broadband and now have unlimited fibre and all day calls for £21pm. Just done speed test 42.91 mbps and upload 8.1 mbps-last check on sky was 11 and 0.8.

Got the phone and Ultra fast fiberoptic £21/month in May, in the last two weeks the service droped downs which SSE fail to find the fault or fix. They change routers but the problem is somewhere in the exchange, fairly unlucky tbh, 8 years with Plusnet ADSL before that and only once we had a service drop down :(
Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!
