Ok so all is NOT rosy with SSE and ANYONE thinking of a change should read this.

My speed check by ookla is just fine approx 50 Mbps. Lower than advertised but ok.

BUT here the thing, PEER TO PEER is 4KBPS??!!!!! It will take weeks for me to download a movie if I desire.

SSE have said 'wait 10 days' for what? when I first signed up I was getting 6-8 Mbps now it's 4Kbps.

Also I rang SSE, it took 30 mins to get through.
Shocking performance, it also doesn't matter what time I DL, the spped is constant 4KBPS.

So this is the traffic shaping referred to in the T&C but which they deny doing when you chat with them online. Torrents will be given the lowest priority I guess.

    Yes your right.

If SSE had told me from the onset 'we don't do P2P' Then without a doubt I would NOT have gone over to them for 18 months.

This 'wait 10 day's' is just a delaying tactic, I have now been downloading ONE movie for 2 days now, were as on day one it took 5 min's.

OBVIOUSLY there's a way around this...seedbox... and if i'm forced to put up with these diabolical speeds then I will continue to seedbox, but it's a pain, and slow having to transfer via sftp.
I could also VPN, and I am using openVPN. But that is rather slow at the moment.

While I agree 'some' services should be given priority, 4kbps is a joke.
Having recently returned from Barbados I was getting 10x faster in their remote cafe's.

Sky box last night at 21.30 took 70 mins for a 1.17gb program to download, OOKLA speedtest came in at 50mbs as expected because im sure its rigged same as the BT Wholesale test , Daisy give these priority from what i have heard , Speed Of Me speedtest came back at 1.7mb, downloaded same program this morning at 08.45 it took 15 mins which is still being throttled

I don't do any torrents, i would say its unusable

I understood they would restrict download speed but going from 60mbps down to 1.7mpps is just ridiculous

Agreed it's a joke, My son who works retail for Virgin Media says there is a 14 day cooling period.

I don't think this applies here as I cant find ANY information anywhere about this especially after connection.

I'm a BIG downloader I'm afraid, but I ALWAYS believe there's a way round problems like this.

Today I downloaded a 1.5 gb movie 19 SECONDS:D...NO not with SSE But with my seedbox, transfer back to my pc was 5 mins..

TBH This issue has forced me to look at seedboxes, something that never really interested me before.

And now I'm glad I did.

The cost is only £1 per week, for a 2TB Bandwidth which is plenty for now!!

    go live day today,

came home from work with trepidation, but I shouldn't have been worried. BT internet was off when I got home, plugged new router in connected to phone line which sync'd quickly, up and running :D
speed test shows marginally improvement on the Infinity1 line I've just changed from
touch wood, everything ok for, will report back if speeds drop

    BT infinity 1 yesterday was 34 Mb/s & 8 Mb/s

Mines dire in the evening, was getting 256kb at one point, yes i did say kb !

Trying to download catch up tv on the sky box takes hours

I am trying to get it resolved with them, BT Wholesale test comes back fine tho, pretty sure ts rigged to show good results, other sites came back very low

The graph is pretty conclusive , good speeds in day crap at night
