SSE broadband feedback

Currently this is the cheapest fibre deal by same margin - sadly I missed the great PlusNet deal from a week or so ago. Especially for 76Mbps.
Has anyone switched recently and can comment how smooth the process was, if the router they give is any good, if your fibre performance is equivalent to your previous provider, etc?
I believe SSE do have fair usage and possibly shaping which is my only concern.0 -
There s a thread in here with lots of unhappy customers due to poor performance.0

It's a lot to wade through though... SSE in 2015 and SSE in 2016 may be very different. Anyone who has been following this thread long-term... are there signs SSE is better these days or is it an ongoing problem with no sign of a fix?
Is it very location-dependent, and if so how can I get an idea if my location is good or bad (near Durham)0 -
I think I just got merged into it

See my (fairly) recent post 486 above, which still reflects, I think, the current position.
I've just switched to BT in the last few days from SSE, breaking the contract without penalty. It's hugely better in the evenings, but much more expensive after the first 12 months. At that point I shall switch again unless BT offer something a lot better than their standard rates.0 -

Very angry.According to MSE 83% can get this excellent deal, fibre broadband+anytime call in the UK and a number of foreign countries. for £21/month. Unless BT has 83% of UK,it is simply not true.
SSE only takes on BT customers at present. MSE knows it perfectly well and still haven't bothered to add this not so insignificant warning to the article.
I am with TalkTalk who are putting up their charges quite a lot.
TT uses all BT's hardware, down to the phone sockets in my house, but it does not matter,I cannot switch to SSE no matter what MSE says.
Can somebody please remind me why should I trust MSE.0 -
the offers only available to non LLU customers, I assume 17% of the market is LLU
it does say in the article that SSE tell you when you ring up if you can get the offer or not , its not "hidden"Ex forum ambassador

It was correct at the time of writing.
You are better off away from SSE0 -
I read in another thread that SSE may say online that you're not eligible (eg if you're LLU) but if you ring up they can arrange the switch.0

Has anyone got it? Thinking of going for their £21 a month deal but can't find any reviews?0
