I often find that speeds drop at busy times and can drop to zero when there is a big football or rugby match on!

Oh, yes, I have had that. Their convoluted sums just do not add up! I also had them add un-asked-for paper billing to my account. at 88p plus VAT. When I complained, on the next bill they deducted the 88p but not the VAT! But then I found the cost of another paper bill (88p plus Vat) added to the second bill!
Anyway, I reminded them of the Unsolicited Goods and Services Act and told them what I was going to do. I have cancelled my direct debit; I shall ignore their bills, work out what I owe them and pay itthe correct money by internet banking transfer.
I am promised some goodwill gestures from them totalling £35. Well, that is very good, but it is not a substitute for the GIRFT Principle: "Get It Right First Time".
Now there is a 12 month contract on the phone line, and 18 months on the broadband.
I wonder: does that mean I can cancel my phone line after 12 months and have free broadband for another six? I doubt if it will be so simple. No doubt they will seek to invoke some convoluted clause in the fine grey print to add hefty cancellation surcharges!
  • In theory they could black list you for credit scores and you wont be able to get finance/interest free credit/loans/mobile phone contract/electric/gas contracts.
It could be bad, or they could just release you from the contract.

    Dear Garbage Guy,
No they could not! As I said, I will pay (promptly) the full correct money, as detailed in the Confirmation of Contract sent to me in writing -- well, printing.
It is also a criminal offence to harass a debtor, And even more serious to harass someone who owes nothing!
Credit scores? Do you know, I have never had a mortgage, I never have loans or finance, nor "free" credit (no such thing!) nor do I have a credit card! Anything I want, I buy it outright! So such matters do not frighten me off. I like to take spivs and incompetents to Court and see them squirm in front of the Judge (not that they ever learn)! I have done so three times so far with total success, and am ready for a fourth!
Anyway, how can it affect my credit rating if I always pay what I owe in full, and ahead of time?
Do watch Judge Rinder on ITV and ITV2 (set the recorder). It is very educational, particularly on what constitutes a contract and what does not. Most people, I suggest, do not even know the four elements of a contract!

Ive been back to BT since monday and my speed has not moved from 63-67mbs since so its was all down to SSE/Daisy and the throughput they have.

If your not happy complain and get out of your contract.

If not then pay your money and put up with poor service.

Lesson learnt that sometimes some things are too good to be true and SSE's Cheap offer was CHEAP in all aspects with dealing with them. I would never use them for anything again.
  • Hi,

'If your not happy complain and get out of your contract.'

Can you please explain how you did this? In have complained 4 times now (in 3 weeks) and they are trying to fix issues I'm having. They want more than £200 to allow me to leave.

    Thanks
    D
