  • We subscribed when TCB was offering £50 and line rental and broadband was £12 per month all in. Well, we still after 5 months haven't received cashback and our bills have been anything but £12 per month and connecting to the service was a nightmare.

We had our connection letter dated 29th July received 30th ie day after connection and not within 2 weeks of first letter (dated 10th) as first letter states clearly. Also it is letter of 29th that gave connection date not first one and advises can cancel up to 5pm on previous working day which is impossible as arrived after connection date.

They charged £3 per month for number display which we never asked for and took 3 months to cancel and get money credited.

Now we have slow speeds at peak and non peak times

It always pays to let the service be reviewed fully before jumping ship as I feel this is a titanic failure.

Dominic123, glad you got it sorted. I have the 789vac Router and using it without the openreach modem.

When you sign up for SSE I think it states what ever services you have on your phone line will be brought over, so caller ID and 1571 most people have so they came over, they did with me and I cancelled them the first month.

This is very strange my speeds are back up to ..FAST!! even downloading files its full speed ! I may stay with SSE after all :)

I signed up through Quidco and it should be finalised in a cpl of days, that was £130 !

I believe since friday everyone has noticed normal speeds as you would expect 72mb/sec for me :)

You'll see it for 7 days and then it's back to square 1.

Under 15Mbps again! on 2 lines.

It all looks like a very mixed picture.
What we cannot see here is any comparison between :-
    1) Switching from OLD ISP to SSE
    2) Switching from OLD ISP to ANY OTHER ISP
    i.e. the comparative performance

I must be one of the lucky ones ( silent majority ? )

PS. And I.A.C. ( Indirect Access Codes ) are working for the phone calls too. e.g. 18185

Yes I too just switched with similar experiance to malakoffee. Broadband working on both my old (plusnet) and new (SSE) accounts until I got a support phone call from SSE to ask how the switch over had gone. I said OKAY and that triggered the loss of the old Plusnet connection (router would no longer login).

So perfectly acceptable - speeds much the same as before (then again I am NOT on an LLU exchange so BT wholesale provide the equipment still) and likewise my 18185 still works.

Got a call from SSE today regards to my complaint. They tried to say I was still liable for the line rental for the whole length of my contract until I told them I was told the only thing i would have to pay was for my line rental and calls upto the date I have my services switched over. A phonecall back 5 minutes later and SSE agreed that was what was said and a bill for £12odd will be generated.

I got the feeling they was trying their luck with the phonecall.

    Hi all,

SSE broadband has recently been put in our broadband guide as a top pick.

We're after feedback from people who have applied for this offer and want to know your experience or if you've had any trouble getting the broadband.

Thanks for all help in advance.

Recently joined she found no problems same as bt

I don't think SSE/Daisy use LLU anywhere - nor do Plusnet of course - so from an exchange point of view, ADSL customers will have stayed connected to the BT Wholesale equipment (DSLAM) within the exchange. (What happens on the other side of that DSLAM of course differs depending upon your ISP.)

SSE do seem to have had difficulty managing switching people from LLU providers (e.g. TalkTalk, Sky) over to them (at the exchange end, this involves actually changing the wiring from LLU equipment to BT Wholesale equipment). By the sounds of it, in some cases they've made a complete hash of it.
  • Rubbish signed contract 31 July got phone eventually 4september countless phone calls later and still no broadband old supplier cut off as supposed to transfer 40 October no engineer turned up wife waited in all day Absolutely woeful have cancelled them now, back to plusnet now no problems
