Another evening with a 76% reduction in speed.

5 days the fault has been with them.

Reckon this 2nd line might be off to Sky or BT tomorrow.

I would suggest waiting for BT to have the gift card offer on again then sign back up via quidco. I have ended up with £160 cash back and a £100 sainsbury gift card.

I ran the auto test overnight and was a steady 50-57 down with only 8 up, but at 8.20 it went to 30 down. Thanks Foolishboy, I may give them a ring, I have the TG789vac with built in modem that they sent me, how can i config it to run without the openreach modem? anyone got a link pls as I read that some of you are not using the modem. I tried starting the config wizzard but there are no templates loaded like this one :(

A few mins before this test I did BTwholesale speed test and got 40/2 !

So does anyone know how to config the router to use without a modem?
  • Select MediaAccess Gateway --> Setup my MediaAcess Gateway

You should be able to change you connection type to VDSL.

You will need you SSE username and password which is the same a the username and password supplied for your Netintellegence software.

interesting to read the replies here regarding service/speed.
touch wood i'm ok on that front but I am going to have to speak to them again tomorrow as they consistently appear to be screwing up my billing, i'd be interested to know if anyone else has had the same.

I took out the £12 a month deal & my services completed their switch over in July. My first bill was generated after approximately 6 weeks & was £18 odd, I couldn't grasp how it had been calculated, as the phone line and broadband had moved over at different times, and so left it however when my second bill came around it totalled to £12.02, I called up & queried it as all the contract documents clearly stated the offer was £0/month for weekend call package, £0/month for broadband, £12/month for line rental. I do not use the phone therefore there are no additional call charges to add that may cause the variation. The customer services representative was just as confused but asked others and was advised it was calculated daily & they credited the 2p as goodwill. I accepted this explanation at the time but on calculating myself later it did not work out right.
Roll on to my third bill arriving this evening and again it has totalled to £12.02, the bills are laid out as talk weekend, everyday broadband & then convoluted credits listed as bundle discount & introductory offer, I really don't see why they can't detail the bill as per the contract documents.
I wait to see what excuse they come up with for trying to overcharge me this month, it may be a small amount but when the contracted amount was £12/month as clear as day and none of the documents made any mentions of per day calculations or other billing methods its inexcusable & to try & do it again once i've questioned it once already.

    Anyone else had this?
    - Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted
    - Student Loan gone
Swagbucks, Mingle, GiffGaff, Prolific, Qmee & Quidco; thank you MSE every little bit helps

It's pot luck as to which gateway you router attaches to when it connects to your broadband line. You can either login to the router and disconnect/reconnect your broadband connection or power cycle your router. If you can login to your router you can see what gateway has been assigned.
It's much quicker to pull out the phone connection, wait a couple of seconds and then plug it back in. This doesn't then disturb existing WiFi connections.
  • Are the speedtest.net results agreeing with testmy.net for people now? Speedtest was lying massively for me so I would avoid this one if poss.
  • I must be getting about 2k speed today can only just bring up 1 Web page if I'm lucky. Can't even access the router !! Rebooted it and reset it. WiFi on mobile I'd great at 49/19.5 ! But ethenet cable. Nothing !!!!!!!
